I have seen the experts many times saying if part of a girdle is extremely thin/very thin as long as it is only a tiny part the diamond will be okay.
1. Is this just because there will be less of the area to chip or does it mean the diamond could be proportioned okay?
(I realise if the whole girdle was extremely thin the possibility of damage would be far greater.)
2. However, when giving this advice does this not mean that the diamond being bought will have a WEAK SPOT?
3. Why buy a stone like that? Why do cutters cut diamonds with these dangerously thin girdles?
I know they try to save diamond rough but other manufacturers would make alterations to pieces if they were of inferior quality.
