I had a 7 stone diamond ring appraised and the notes in the appraisal states the appraisal is based on GIA definitions and appraiser is a member of CIBJO. I am in the United Kingdom.

The girdles on six stones are listed as average width but the centre stone girdle is listed as slightly thin.

As neither of these terms are GIA what does it mean. Does average mean medium but what does slightly thin mean - thicker than thin, thin or very thin?

The appraisal was done for insurance value. It is typed and bound with lovely large photos included.

Thank you Richard Sherwood. It is not a GIA term though is it, would it be AGS? OR is it just a general term? I have seen slightly thick but never slightly thin written on these discussion boards.
