Hi All,

I, hopefully, will be engaged within the next month or so. I have a beautiful 2.2 ct solitaire waiting for me!!! I sneaked a quick ''''modeling session'''' last night and I just love love love my ring. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone was super nervous wearing their ring at first? I''''m terrified it will fly off my hand when I''''m washing my hands or something. The ring was sized perfectly for me and it is well insured but I''''m just so nervous of wearing it!!!!! Am I insane?

Wear it an enjoy it! Well.. when you get it. You cannot control life.. things get lost, scratched, chipped, damaged every day. No, don''t go doing heavy contruction in it. but seriously, take a look at some of the antiques on this board. Those rings survived all sorts of things, and yours will too!

I was like that too for about 6 months after I got my ring. As long as it''s insured you should just wear it and enjoy it! If it fits correctly nothing is going to happen to it.

For some added piece of mind, don''t wear it when you know you''ll be gardening or doing chores or just plain doing heavy duty work with your hands. That should keep your ring clean and safe! I was like you too! I don''t go to the beach or go kayaking with my ring on. I just want to make sure she is safe and sound in her box!

Certainly enjoy your ring. I have a ring holder in the kitchen and put my rings on it when I cook, do dishes, work on laundry or house work. Anything where I can maybe knock it or get it dirty. I can''t wait to see it.

I was at first. I had a .50 in 18k. Nothing spectacular, but I lived right on the corner of Haight and Ashbury in SF, and let''s just say... it was very gentrified. So for awhile I turned the stone in, but then I got used to it.

I think even though my upgrade now being made isn''t huge, 1 Carat, I''m still gonna feel nervous at first

Nope! Get it insured and enjoy it!

No matter how hard you try it will eventually get scratched, dinged, and a prong will loosen. So long as you don't abuse it and you get it checked regularly worrying is just more effort than it's worth.

ditto Yssie :)

I was like that for probably the first month i had my ering...then it became second nature wearing it and now I don''t even notice wearing it most of the time- it is just an extension of my finger now.

I was nervous, but just make sure it is insured and enjoy your life. that''s what I think:-)

I was totally like this too! You get over it with time though.

I was nervous at first but my FI kept reminding me that it is appraised for more than he paid so if something happens he would just buy me a bigger one lol. You get used to it pretty quickly though. I am still a little uncomfortable wearing it around when I am alone in an area that is not so good but I that is a different issue and I may just be paranoid.

I was actually terrified by it at first when I was wearing it... kinda like paranoid in some weird way... But now, it is all good. I enjoy it daily in whatever outfit or surroundings I am in... And it is insured for less worry as well.
