Question about white gold dipping

I am curious, does anyone know if anything negative happens to platinum prongs if a solitaire with a14k rose gold or 14k white gold band is dipped in white gold? Would a jeweler just not dip the head? I like the look of white gold but prefer a platinum head for durability and was wondering about its maintenance. Thanks!
