Question about where to buy a diamond

Hi All;
I am currently involved with a woman who I think I am going to propose to. She jokes about wanting a rock. I am not sure where is the best place to get a big diamond, because I need to finance it. I have heard that a small jeweler is the best place to get a ring from b/c you get the most value for the money. However, my mom works at Tiffanys and she would get a discount on a diamond from there. any advice would be apprcaited

Even with a discount, Tiffany's will most likely be more expensive than shopping on line.

I would not go into deep debt on a ring. Buy what you can afford. Why not save for the ring?

If you need to "finance" the ring, check into taking out an unsecured line of credit from your bank which would allow you to purchase anywhere.
