question about what items you re-use and recycle!

Do you re-use items like zip lock bag,plastic bags or food containers,water bottles,cardboard boxes and gift wrap?What do you re-use and what gets thrown out after just one use?

I re-use all of the above quite often except for gift wrap. I recycle everything that can be recycled even when I am feeling lazy and want to toss it in the garbage. I have a guilty conscience if I don''t.

Mostly I resuse things that can go through the dishwasher:

Glass jars, plastic containers and icecream buckets.

Anything not easy to clean gets tossed after one use - sorry environment!

I do recycle as many differnt materials as my city has facilities for.

I prefer biodegradable single use items like wax paper and paperbags.

I do reuse nice cardboard shiping boxes and gift boxes

If we have a use for cardboard boxes, we''ll reuse them, otherwise we throw them out. We reuse Tupperware types of containers, but I''ve never reused plastic bags (well, plastic grocery bags, yes, but not Zip-lock bags). I know people who reuse Zip-lock bags and plastic silverware, and I have to say, I don''t get it.

We re-use all of those things. We usually bring our own bags for grocery shopping so we accumulate very few plastic bags but the ones we do are reused as bin liners and water bottle are reused a lot. Cardboard boxes and gift wrap are re-used or recycled.

All cans, bottles, plastic, paper, cardboard etc in our home is recycled.

I have what I like to think is a small carbon footprint. I live in an urban city without a car, my apartment is fairly small, and I walk everywhere because I don't own a car. I always bring my own canvas bag when I grocery shop, and when I don't, I usually end up reusing the plastic or paper bags.

I recycle whatever I can and buy goods from environmentally and ethically responsible companies when I can (i.e. no make-up that has been testing on animals, biodegradable cleaning agents which usually come in paper cartons, etc.).

Environmental issues are really important to me so I try to make the extra effort. I rarely use zip-lock bags... most everything is stored in whatever bowl or plate it was served on, with saran wrap over it, or in glass tupperware. I try not to buy too many ziplock bags or plastic things like that!

I do reuse gift bags I receive, but I rarely encounter gift wrap.

water bottles - yes, I buy flats of Aquafina and usually resuse each bottle once (I also have reusable BPA free from REI that I use as well. It's nice to have disposable for sports events, etc.)

One that isn't on the list is gift bags - I DO reuse those. Between both kids' b-days, we get about 20 a year so I resuse them for other kid parties.

We reuse everything we can, and we recycle everything that is recyclable.
We bring our own bags to ALL stores, not just the market, so we don''t have many plastic bags.
We try not to use Ziploc type bags, we use Tupperware that we can easily wash and reuse, instead. You can buy sandwich-sized containers for lunch.

Recycling is great, but if you can avoid to consume the product in the first place it''s even better.

We wash and save all containers from food that we can use to send home leftovers after parties. That way we don''t need the Ziploc type bags, and we''re reusing containers that we would otherwise have no use for.
We don''t buy brands that use excessive packaging, either. What a waste.

Wow i reuse all of the things you mentioned!! I am especially handy at re-using wrapping paper, i make sure i can salvage almost all (if not all) of it!

I reuse the plastic bags from the grocery store. They are good for kitty litter and when you are giving things away. I put all the shoes or pants or whatever I am giving away in those bags. We have the glad/ziplock plastic bowls with lids that we store most foods in. I will reuse a ziplock bag if it had something not messy in it. For instance, if all it had in it was a muffin then I will reuse it. If it had something with liquid or messy it goes in the trash. I do not reuse containers that come delivered like the chinese food containers.

I re use tupperware or anything that can be in the dish washer. I re use zip locks for Ice. I re use water bottles when I''m at work. Our tap at home is not the best, so I don''t reuse there. I actually purchase recycled aluminum foil which I know isn''t re-using but it IS recycling the aluminum. I will sometimes reuse plastic cups (the cheapo party kind) and plastic eating utensils. I re use some cups as mini vases for little pepper plants until they are big enough for outside weather.
