So I have been interfacing with a designer named Leon at WF. Dumb question, but is this the same Leon Mege I always read about on PS? I visited WF's website and clicked on the link "meet the designers" and saw Leon Mege as a designer. I hear many good things about him if so. Why is he so well know on PS? Does WF outsource to these designers for custom work or is he a WF employee?

Thanks!

The Leon your talking to at WF is not Leon Mege.
They are 2 different people.

Karl, please clarify.

There is a Leon who is employed by WF.

And WF has commissioned 4 ring designs from Leon Mege (Art of Platinum) (as listed on WF's website)?

Or are there actually 2 Leon Meges?

Leon Mege is not employed by Whiteflash. He is the owner and designer of Art of Platinum and has offered certain pieces on Whiteflash (Lotus).

There is a different Leon employed directly by Whiteflash, whose last name is not Mege. He is one of the designers that works on all WF designs. There is no such person named Leon Mege under the direct employment of Whiteflash.

Just to officially clear up the name confusion, Leon Rocha is the longtime production manager at Whiteflash. Leon Megé is an independent designer who has done alot of work for members of this forum and with whom Whiteflash has a long working relationship.

The Leon that the poster is referencing is Leon Rocha. He oversees all Whiteflash manufacturing and will commonly be referenced in communications with customers during custom design work as he works hand in hand with our CAD designers. Many times he communicates directly with customers, but he is a pretty busy guy and when possible we try to handle communications on his behalf and let him focus on running a busy shop.

Because he shares the same first name as a famous designer we sometimes refer to him as Leon Roché. :P

Aaaaahhh yes. I do remember seeing the last name Rocha on a few emails. Don't know why that slipped my mind. Thanks for the clarification all!

Since we are on the subject, I should provide a little more background on Leon Rocha. Leon is one of the longest tenured on the Whiteflash team. He has more than 10 years service here, having originally set up the first Whiteflash production facility. He has been intimately involved in development of the Whiteflash signature designs, and is at the center of every Whiteflash custom design project.

He runs our team of six Whiteflash bench jewelers, and has regular collaborations with the CAD designers and other experts that Whiteflash works with on a daily basis.

Leon performs quality control on all parts and materials used in Whiteflash production, and quality control on all finished items. In his spare time he managed to complete his GIA Diamond Diploma on the way to his GG, and plays a key role on our diamond review team.

As you may gather, Leon Rocha is busy fellow and a pillar of strength and consistency for Whiteflash.

And now you know... the rest of the story. :appl:

You forgot the most important bit Brian - how he brings designs to life ::)

Even if that occasionally means saving clients from themselves

This made me chuckle all day! It reinforces my suspicion that Whiteflash would probably be the most fun place to work.

Howdy y'all,

Well I am not too proud to say I call him "King Leon or King Sweet Potato". In the past few years I have taken to calling my WF team members my "sweet potatoes" and since Leon is one of our core employees it required me to give him a unique term of endearment.

He really knows his stuff and so many clients and myself have benefitted from his expertise. :-) Great inquiry tdoyledesign.
