other than benchmark weights (1.0, 1.5, 2.0, etc), over how wide of a scope are per carat prices generally relevant? that is, should the per carat price of a 1.1 ct diamond be approximately the same as a 1.2 ct diamond? 1.1 versus 1.3?

average per carat cost of 7 WF ACA G VS2 1.0-1.1=7543
3 1.1-1.2=7541
5 1.2-1.3=8148

2 1.00-1.05=7534 1
5 1.05-1.10=7546 1.0016
2 1.10-1.15=7517 0.9977, outlier?
1 1.15-1.20=7587 1.0070
3 1.20-1.25=8105 1.0758 1
2 1.25-1.30=8211 1.0899 1.0311

Perhaps the sample size isn't enough, but from all the same company with pricing structure, should be fairly consistent.

maybe it''s because I''ve been up all night, but what am I looking at there?

All WF ACA, so same pricing structure should apply in the same company and brand.

#of stones in that range ct weight price/ct
7 1.0-1.1= 7543
3 1.1-1.2= 7541
5 1.2-1.3= 8148

2 1.00-1.05=7534 1 sets this range as the basis
5 1.05-1.10=7546 1.0016 indicates this range is priced 0.16% higher than basis
2 1.10-1.15=7517 0.9977, outlier?
1 1.15-1.20=7587 1.0070 0.7% higher than basis
3 1.20-1.25=8105 1.0758 7.6%higher 1 second basis
2 1.25-1.30=8211 1.0899 8.0%higher 1.0311 3.1% higher than second basis
The data shows that stones from 1.00-1.15 are priced about the same
1.15-1.20 are priced .7% higher than a 1 ct
1.20-1.25 are priced 7.6% higher than a 1 ct
1.25-1.3 are priced 3.1% higher than 1.2-1.25

Which shows nicely the increases at the benchmarks..... Also, the larger one goes, the price jumps are higher b/c the rough is pricier. This is also true for higher color/clarity stones.

JulieN, As a consumer, you really impressed me with all the knowledge in the field!

Could you also tell us how much decrease in price a .80-.99 ct stone may be compared to 1 ct (per ct price)?

Thank you!!!

That was just some number crunching.

Check this out: https://www.pricescope.com/RepScope.asp

Just for the purposes of this thread, it wouldn''t have worked because there are no smaller intervals between 1-1.5 ct.
