Question about GIA comments on an asscher cut diamond

Hi all, this is my first time posting here and I hope I’m in the right section! I decided to ask here because can’t seem to find an answer to this question anywhere else, and PriceScope is one of the first sites that pops up each time I change the wording of my search.

For some brief back story, I have an asscher cut engagement ring, and today while I was cleaning/reorganizing I came across my GIA report and just took a look at it again and noticed that in the comments it states “patches of color are not shown” so I was just curious as to what that means considering it’s graded as a colorless stone?

Like I said, it’s not a dire need to know, I was just curious if anyone else has similar comments or knew what it meant because I am having trouble finding an answer anywhere. Thanks!

Thanks for sharing that IG, I didn’t know that! And the number is

And this is the best photo I have of it currently (which is unfortunately a not so great cell phone photo haha)

This was a new one for me also, my sources are saying its areas of color zoning left in the finished stone rather than being romoved.
Maybe someone else will have more information.

Nothing useful but that's a lovely stone and beautiful setting for it too. Would love to see more pictures if you feel like sharing.

Also is anyone getting a recaptcha loop on the GIA report check page?

Lovely looking stone! :)

Same here!

Does seem to say 'Title not available' on the main screen behind it, though.

works on mobile Chrome, not desktop Chrome. Maybe they updated some settings?
Got the report on my phone tho - 2.48 F VVS2, yum!!

Cant open the GIA report, but my vot is with Bryan

Thanks, Bryan! :))

@Rollie1223 - if the ring has an open basket / prongs, can you lay the ring on its side on a white piece of paper in a well-lit, diffused lighting environment and take another macro photograph of it?

Perhaps in a room with uplighters bouncing off the ceiling or outside on a cloudy day?

That might help show patches of colour without the light return from the faceting hiding them!

Hi everyone! And thank you so much for your help!!

To answer the one of the first questions—I tried looking up my stone via desktop on the GIA sight but seems to be a little wonky at the moment and I can only get the recaptcha to work via Chome mobile too?

Also: once I have better/professional photos (which will be after this weekend) I’d be more than happy to post more! My only question is should I post them here or start a new thread elsewhere and link to it? I just don’t want to be posting irrelevant stuff here and clog it up and take away from my question! But regarding this thread, I do have an open basket setting (or at least I think I do via google—sorry I’m not good at this I just know I think I have a pretty ring :oops2:) but my fiancé is a photographer and knows exactly what you’re describing to do, so that experiment can be done this weekend too :mrgreen2:

Please do post the pictures here so all the discussion related to it can be kept in one place and easy to find! :)

It sounds like an interesting stone, we are keen to see it :))
