I was doing a search on Blue Nile for 2 carat diamonds and noticed an oddity when comparing two nearly identical stones. Here are the stats and prices of both:
Diamond 1: 2.08 Ideal G VVS1 $31,170
Diamond 2: 2.00 Good G VVS1 $31,335
I was hoping someone could explain to me how, with two diamonds that have nearly identical specs, the diamond with a "Good" cut could be priced higher than a diamond with an "Ideal" cut, especially when the Ideal cut is bigger.
I checked the other specs on the two diamonds and became even more confused because Diamond 1 has "excellent" polish, while Diamond 2 only has "good" polish. Why on earth is Diamond 2 more expensive? Is there something I''m missing?
