Hey all. Have a look at http://www.jamesallen.com/diamond.asp?cid=131&item=1035078. You can look at the stone at 16x. I noticed that along the left side of the stone, it appears more yellow than the other side. Does this happen often? Also, although I am sure it varies depending on who is looking, but does an H colour stone typically show hints of yellow to the naked eye?

Thanks

That looks like a pretty diamond, the tint you see is probably the lighting/ photography set up. An H will face up plenty white to most eyes, it depends on the grading lab too, GIA and AGS are said to be the strictest, the size of the diamond and the cut to name some factors. An H is normally a good middleground choice for most people. I would say if you are interested in this diamond, to get the good folk at JA to eyeball it for you, they will be honest as to how well it faces up, if it is a high H ( close to a G) or a low H ( close to an I etc.) The cut proportions are outside of what we normally see here, but going by the picture it looks like an attractive diamond. The numbers suggest it could be a steep/ deep and therefore leak light, but going by the magnified image it looks worth further investigation. See if they have an Idealscope image of this stone, that will be helpful. They will be honest with you as to how this diamond looks and it's suitability for you.

I doubt the color difference you are seeing is visible to the eye, I imagine it''s just the photography set up they are using. H color is plenty white. Super color sensitive people can see warmth from the side and many can only see a difference when comparing higher color grades side by side to an H.

However, this particular stone is a bit deep for my taste. I''d keep the depth to 60-62 and the table from 54-57.

I''m guessing the tint on the side is due to the lighting, wall of the room, setup, etc. I''d call them to make sure but I doubt it''s the stone?
