Hey learning alot about the older cut stones.

It seems to me that a great deal of them have the "warmer" colors, In fact I just saw one on an old link that was s-t color is this common with the older cuts? (I know that DS just got her 2.13 with I color ) but I also seem to see most in lower color range?

It is so wierd how things happen. I never even thought about it till I wrote the above that my diamond pendant .80 from my grandmother is K color s11 stone and guess what is an OEC. So now I have to take it out and have another look. Learn something new every day

In the past, many of the higher coloured antique stones were recut into modern rounds for the higher resale factor when such cuts were in less demand.

Hmmm But the stones that we have seen in the Rocky Talk lately all seem to be warmer colors and have not been recut.

That is what I mean; all the true antiques of higher colours (D, E, F and etc) have been taken off the market, recut into modern rounds and sold as such, leaving the warmer coloured true antiques up for sale as is.

Yep. There was a greater financial incentive to recut stones graded D-J (colorless and near-colorless). Many of the K and lower hued stones were left alone, and now that people are rediscovering the beauty of the old cuts, we're seeing more of them here.

What I wonder is if 40 years from now, people will be communicating on their telepathic implants on why so many lower-colored MRBs are available, and what happened to all of the higher colored ones, now that we're seeing the trend to recut back to the older style again .... :rodent:

So I guess I am happy that I have my .80 OMC K color si1 from my grandma. llucky me. I have to take it out and send you all photos

Sorry I get it now. they used to be warmer and now they are cut :appl: :appl: :appl: took me a while
