Breaking on BBC.

The Palace have issued a statement to say they are deeply concerned for her health. She is reportedly comfortable & all the Senior Royals are currently arriving en masse & with some urgency via private planes at Balmoral Castle in Scotland.

I can't stand it. I love her.

Me, too! Wasn't the new PM going up to Balmoral for installation or whatever they do? That's unprecedented. Did that get done?

Oh no…I love her..I hope she rallies..:cry2:

Yes, it was done on Tuesday. Out going & in coming PM's went up to Balmoral, one to resign & one to be invited by the Queen to form a new Government. And the Queen looked bright, but very, very frail.

I woke up to the news @Ally T, and I’m now watching Sky news for updates. It really sounds like this could be the end, it’s unusual for the press to be given these kind of updates and for the family to be travelling to be with her. I feel desperately sad, even though she’s had a long life, she’s been the figurehead for us (Brits) for our entire lives.

Let’s hope that if this is the end for her, it’s peaceful and that she’ll be reunited with her beloved husband.

She physically declined immediately after Phillip died. If this is her time, I hope she has a peaceful passing. She is the G.O.A.T.

I agree, definitely unusual for them to comment on her health. They have always been very private in that respect. It feels like the statement is preparing us for the worst. I even wondered if perhaps she has already died & the family are heading up with urgency to pay their respects privately, before the news is announced?

Either way, I feel we will be waking to very sad news tomorrow. I feel a bit sick. I need an emergency biscuit. And a whiskey.

I’ve had a little cry already. The country won’t be the same without her.

I am resigned to the fact that she can't go on forever, and she may not have much longer to live; much as I would love to see her go on forever.

I am watching the news. This is sad. I'm in the US and from upstate NY. Spent a lot of time in Toronto during family outings since it was only about 40 mins. away. I kept all these years some old Canadian bills that has her picture on it. I thought she was so elegant and pretty. She seemed to always exhibit a kind of quiet dignity and I have been used to her being the Queen all of my life. I agree with another poster that she really seemed to go down once Prince Phillip passed. This is a remarkable and sad time and my thoughts are with her and her family. :cry2:

I have a feeling she is already gone, and if so that is very sad. I know there are a lot of problems with the Royal family, but I’ve always had an affection for her, and I hope her passing was/is peaceful.

Honestly, IMO she is 96. She has held on so long and I hate that people will be "disappointed" if she passes. Just let her go in peace. No one should be forced to work until they are decrepit. I feel badly that she wasn't able to rest and properly grieve after her husband passed.

I saw pictures of her from Tuesday and the bruising on her hands was very telling.

She's not my queen but she's somebody's mother and grandmother, and no one wants a family member to suffer. my condolences to her family.

I am terribly sad for UK. She is such a beautiful, strong force. Her service has been so admirable. I believe she will be missed by the entire world.

She hasn't been forced to work until this age - she could have abdicated at any time & passed the Monarchy to Prince Charles, but she chose to carry on as long as she was willing & able. She is simply amazing.

Nobody will be "dissappointed" when she dies. But we will be sad. Extremely sad.

I have seen many people express that actually. Of course people will be sad, but it comes off quite selfish that people want a frail, ill person to keep serving just so they don't have to be sad. She has lived a long and incredible life, if this is her time, I just hope it is peaceful and painless.

From everything I've heard and read, the idea of abdication would not have sat well with her, given that it was the abdication of her uncle that led to the ascension of her father to the throne, and the stress of being king possibly having contributed to his early death.

She is certainly a dutiful person. So I'm not sure how much choice she really felt she had.

It seems that Her Majesty died at 15:47: they're waiting till the end of day of the financial market to announce her death.

Please disclose (inquiring minds NEED to know ;-) ) how you know this has happened?

Where did you hear this information?

The Queen said at a young age that she would carry out her duty for as long or as short her life would be. I think being thrust on to the throne due to unexpected circumstances, (and at a young age), she has a very strong sense of duty, and has been determined to reign for as long as it was possible. I never thought she would abdicate, partly because of her sense of duty, but perhaps also that she knows what a heavy burden it is, and wanted to spare Charles for as long as possible.

I’ve also heard that there’s going to be an announcement at 6pm UK time.
