Is it important to go to a "Master Gemologist Appraiser"? Or is it sufficient to go to someone who is G.G. and A.S.A.? I need an appraisal for insurance and to verify my e-diamond matches the cert.

An ASA-MGA is a highly qualified professional. They can be quite a bit more knowledgeable than a regular "ASA" Senior Member although it would very unfair to say this is true for every individual. Some highly qualified appraisers in ASA gems and jewelry just have not felt that the MGA course was necessary for them. It is a personal choice.

I used to teach the ASA-MGA course, more than ten years ago, and some of the very finest appraisers in the jewelry and gemology business earned this credential. Although I am no longer a member of ASA, I still believe the course is an excellent path to follow in the educational process.

imho impossible too answer.
A so-so appraiser can have the whole alphabet after their name and be less excellent than another with just GG.

Though I think there can be considerable variability between appraisers, I don''t think it will take a super duper appraiser to just match the diamond to the cert. If they''re credentialed at all, frankly, I think you''d pretty much be good to go.
