Hello All,
I am new to this forum....although I have been lurking for while! I have a ring and earrings set my grandmother gave to me about 15 years ago, and I have no idea what kind of stone it is. It looks purple is some light, and blue in others. I have thought about having it appraised, but I am just curious if anyone here can give me some idea of what I might have?
Thanks!

I love that color!

What a pretty set.

Usually those stones with purple-blue color change are synthetic color change sapphire, often sold in Middle Eastern countries and Mexico as alexandrite, from the late 40's on.

Thank you Richard....this would make sense. I think I remember my Grandmother telling me my Grandfather gave it to her on their honeymoon in Mexico.

Pretty color!

I was wondering if it''s a synthetic colour change sapphire myself... still, it''s a very lovely set. I love the earring setting.

Yes, first thought was synthetic corundum (sapphire).

Very pretty pieces!
