Pulling the trigger...thoughts on this stone?

First off, put it on hold before someone grabs it

ETA nevermind... I don't like the stone. Its hazy

See that "additional clouds and pinpoints not shown"... I stay away from that

Slim pickings at james allen. What is your budget?

15k for the stone...she is color sensitive so i dont want to go above a g but want the best cut at 1.5 carats..that scored 1.0 on hca with all excellent

The whiteflash stone is AGS certified, which is important. AGS Has stricter standards. I really feel like the G from James Allen looks more yellow than the H from Whiteflash, which doesn't look at all yellow.

I do not think it is hazy. I believe "addition clouds and pin points" are a non issue.

I should have said it isn't as crisp to me as other diamonds... I'm seeing something, but you are right that it probably means nothing...

I understand what you are saying. It may be a focusing issue due to the extremely shallow depth of field; it is common.

Having that said, I agree with you. Looking at WF's inventory this JA's G VS1 is not attractively priced for virtual inventory

I'd agree, on a VS1 stone, I doubt clouds will have an effect. It is closer to a 60/60 stone in terms of diamond flavor (tending towards white light over fire). The JA stone has lower GF that are 80%. The WF stone has LGF at 77% which may or may not be something that causes you to lean one way or the other visually just looking at face on pics.

In terms of color, you can't really make a color judgement in a photo, especially in this case where they are not side by side, and on top of that both are photographed in entirely different photo set ups. (One on black the other one white. There's going to be a lot more contrast between the stone and a black set up than a white one.)

If you are interested in the JA stone, you should put it on hold and ask for an IS image. The WF already has one up.

LGF explanation: http://www.whiteflash.com/about-diamonds/diamond-education/facets-the-lower-halves.htm (apparently I am a 77-78% LGF woman which is why I like the WF stone). I'm sure the JA stone is nice too... call both companies and speak to a rep and ask questions... choose the one that makes the most sense to you.

Yep, thanks. Sorry- should have spelled out LGF (it's such a pain to do over and over...). I'm a 75-77 LGF person myself on a modern stone.

Agree...if in question, have the gemologist at JA look at it.

But...at that price I would take a Whiteflash stone over the JA stone...The ACA stones are verified to have Ideal Light return (AGS000).
