Pulled Pork in the slow cooker!

I just watched this episode of America's Test Kitchen with a recipe for spicy Mexican tostadas. They look delicious and might be a less time consuming recipe. I also like that they use a potato masher to shred the meat! I'm going to try that when I make pulled pork for dinner tomorrow!

I do this all the time and several different ways.

I'm also too impatient to let it cool 10 hrs on low, so I do 4 hours on high.

Version 1: Sprinkle with salt and pepper and brown outside in skillet on stove. Throw in crockpot with about 1 cup of water, some soy sauce and some crushed pineapple. And maybe a chopped onion.

Version 2: Sprinkle with salt and pepper and brown outside in skillet on stove. Thow in crockpot with about 1 cup of red wine, 2 tbsp of fresh lime juice, 2 or 3 gloves of chopped garlic. Add end, pour off juices and thicken into a gravy using some chicken stock on stove. Add back to crock pot and top with fresh chopped herbs (oregano, rosemary, whatever).

Version 2: Brown as described above; Throw into crock pot with garlic, onion, herbs and water. At end I will add crushed red pepper to taste. We make tacos with this version.

ETA: I always use a Boston Butt or a pork shoulder

Beef stew in the crock pot now! It smells delicious!!!! Can't wait till 5 when it is ready! Here is how I make it. So easy and it is literally set it and forget it. A full meal is ready when it is done. I just slice up some fresh bread and it is GO TIME!!!

1 Mccormick slow cook beef stew packets
5 cups of vegetables - potatoes, carrots, green beans, and onion
1 1/3 cup water
2lbs stewing meat

I mix it all up and let it cook on low for 8 hours and it is awesome! I like that I get a nice serving of veggies in it too!!!
