I think what you are describing is called AIDS.
That's correct. Covid-19 (SARS-CoV-2) is more similar to HIV/AIDS than to flu or a cold.
I've had COVID around 6 months ago and don't feel like it changed anything, I'm very much able to fight off germs the way I used to.
So no AIDS for me![]()
There was that misterious liver disease in small children recently, that proved to be exactly lack of exposure. So glad to hear that you have experienced no ill effects.
Keep in mind that there are several hypotheses attempting to explain the impact of Covid-19 on the human immune system. The disease hasn't been around long enough for there to be enough data to support either the "kids haven't been exposed to RSV for two years" hypothesis or the "Covid-19 destroys your immune system" hypothesis. Of course, there could be other -- still unknown -- explanations for the rapid increase in RSV cases across the U.S.
For those interested in learning more about Covid-19's impact on the body's T cells, here's a link to a podcast by one of the leading researchers in the field.

My niece had a new baby a few weeks ago and has two other children aged 3 and under. Her 22 month old came down with RSV the week after her newborn came home. She was very concerned about her newborn and 3 year old catching it. Luckily they didn’t and her middle child recovered and didn’t need to be hospitalized. Many children are being hospitalized in our area with RSV. It’s scary.
