PS Mommy thread with toddlers 12-36 months

Bobo, T always gets multiple teeth at once too. It does suck but at least it goes faster. The bug spray link you posted didn''t work.

MrsS, that is what my neighbor uses. Too bad I don''t have time to order it.

Burk, sorry you aren''t feeling well! I cannot imagine being preggo with a toddler right now. T is SO exhausting! Poor Tayva and her allergies. Hope the medicine has kicked back in. A PS pool party would be a blast!

Puffy, B cracks me up! Haha. He is so funny. When do you find out the sex of #2?

Jas12, DEET is scary! I guess the best way to know if the all natural stuff works is to use it. T and I are BOTH bug magnets and we both get bites every time we are outside for longer than a few minutes.

Janine, I would listen to the doctor''s concerns but kids just develop at different rates. Hopefully she is just happy crawling and is in no hurry. I think MOST babies scream their little heads off with the shots. I think part of it is being pinned down (which I am sure is scary). I don''t remember T ever having a blood test. I did use next stage formula from 9 months-12 months b/c I believe it is cheaper
41.gif
if I am remembering correctly. T never really was in cereal and I never pushed her. Lower that mattress NOW! She will get LOTS of bumps and bruises but falling out of her crib is dangerous. T started pulling up to stand I think around 8 months. She even did it in her pack ''n play b/c she is noisy. Haha. T has that toy (that everyone seems to have) I think it is little tikes and it turns from a walker to a rider. She uses it as a rider now and loved it both ways.

feb, I am going to see if my Target has it. Thanks!

Diva, T gets bites SOOO easily. They don''t seem to bother her but I feel bad. I should ask my dad. He freaked out when he saw I was using sunscreen last summer.
40.gif
That''s funny you say big babies take longer to walk. My dh was HUGE. He was over 10 lbs when he was born and was walking around 9-10 months! I on the other hand was always little and didn''t walk until 17 months. I think A LOT of it has to do with their personality. T took after her daddy on that one. Yay for J''s 2 steps even if you think it was a fluke it is STILL exciting!

curly, I always mixed cereal in with the baby food too to make it thicker. Lucy sounds so funny!

We are leaving for Ohio for 10 days (yikes!) on wednesday. DH and I already got into a fight about the trip. He doesn''t understand why I might have an issue with him golfing EVERYDAY. I really don''t think I am a nag. I don''t know, maybe I am.
3.gif
I am busy packing and getting everything together.

I live in Ohio! What city are you going to?

I also walked early - around 10 months and I was tiny. My DH was big (like J) and he walked early too. I think J is just lazy
3.gif
I need to post some updated pics soon...

I''d have a problem with DH golfing everyday - and I would nag about it too
9.gif

Diva, I like to remind DH what a cool wife I am but he really has NOOO idea how lucky he has it in terms of his "freedom." After all who else could be bribed to allow her DH to take a 30 day trip?!?
3.gif
I am hoping if he does HAVE to golf he will be done by 12 each day. But I think it is so silly and even more so now that his dad lives here so they could golf whenever. I want this to be a vacation for me too! We are staying near Port Clinton.

I think it definitely has a lot to do with personality. Amelia is super cautious by nature. Put a new toy in front of her and she''ll stare at it before gingerly touching it with a fingertip. She''s the same with food and now walking. Of course, now she''s great at crawling and will just plop down instead of trying to walk with support. Argh.

Tacori, have a great trip, and NO, you are not being unreasonable!!!!

TGal, thanks for the reassurance. Sometime I feel like Kate Gosslien (sp?) haha. I am sure it will be fine. I did let him know I was stressed b/c his family aren''t the easiest people sometimes. Hopefully he will be more sensitive and he did promise he would help out so I can get some alone time.

Bobo--
Bummer about the ants.
It seems most new houses have that sort of infestation.
We have our yearly battle w/ the ants too and unfortunately the only thing that we know worked are chemicals.

Tacori--
It is nice to have my body back, whatever is left of it.
I can't say I'm happy to find how quickly my girls deflate once the milk factory is closed,
but it is nice to be able to wear my old tops again. Can't say the same for the bottoms since my expanded waistline and hips are making it uncomfortable to squeeze into my old pants. And the 10 extra pounds from my pre-preggo didn't help either. So, count your blessing that you have less than 5 lbs left:P
Miss T is such a social butterfly.
That's great. I love it when kids are outgoing and friendly.
Have a great trip, and like TGal said, you are not being unreasonable.
Wow, your hubby has lots of interests doesn't he -- golfing, jetski-ing, and watching MMA.
Makes me thankful that the only vice my hubby has is watching his football team
41.gif

Puffy--
Congrats on 2nd trimester.
How exciting that you are going to find out the sex...when is that going to be?
J is doing good except for yet another cold.
Ironically, this time she got it from me and I don''t know where I got it from.
So we both been sick for the last week and a half.
It is not too bad since she''s weaned and I don''t have to BF her while coughing my lungs out.
Her milk intake is not much, but she''ll average around 10 oz a day (which I''m really happy).
She''s getting plenty of calcium and protein in other dairy products like cheese and yogurt.

Hehe, you are right that the kid always win when it comes to staying in bed or getting up and play w/ them.

MrsS--
Wow, Jake can say hello?
I don''t think J has said a 2 syllable words yet, unless you count her repeating the last syllable as 2 syllables :P
Her ladybug comes out as bugbug or umbrella as um and lots of tongue twirling
9.gif

tacori have a wonderful trip to ohio!!! i have to remind my DH that he is super lucky in terms of freedom as well a lot of the time. my DH seems to have forgotten that he just took a 2 weeks trip with friends while his preggo wife was at home with the toddler. he''s already talking about a trip in august for 3 weeks with a bunch of his friends. i told him i doubt it, but MAYBE. he then said that there would be a nice surprise in it for me if i agreed. haha!! hope the packing is going well.

janine i wouldn''t worry too much about chloe. but it is always better to catch something earlier rather than later. a friend of mine''s, daughter was not standing assisted by 10 months yet, and the docs were really worried. my friend did say no to an ultrasound just cause she wasn''t prepared for any bad news. anyways, by her daughter''s first birthday, she had taken a few steps on her own.

lili hope J gets better soon. poor mama and girl. 10 oz a day is pretty good. we find out the sex end of july, so still a whiles to wait, but i am excited. i was telling DH that if he didn''t want to know then i would honestly try my best to keep in to myself. but we''ll see how that goes. haha. J sounds adorable with her words!!

bobo how is little B doing? sorry to hear about the ant situation. did it get better?

burk B and i are both much better, thanks for asking. i feel so bad for you with the MS. when the MS goes away, sooner than later hopefully, then you can continue your fun filled summer with T, just rest all you can now and take it easy. how is T doing? her allergies better? mine have been kicking me hard!! sucks, but i''ll get over it.

Janine, our pedi said the regular formula is fine, no need to go to the next step.
I compared the nutrition value in the next step formula with the regular formula and they are
the same so I don''t see the need to switch. I wouldn''t worry that C is standing, but get it check
just to be cautious. Little B blood work done at 1 yr. check up for lead and it took 3 nurses to
get the blood because his blood vessel is so small...I was ready to punch the nurses at the end.

Burk, poor u, I had all day sickness with little B until I hit 3 months...hang in there.
Happy to hear Tayva is feeling better. Trying to avoid using chemical in the house, little B put everything in his mouth now.

Hi Diva~

Tacori, let me try again
tell DH to take Tessa golfing everyday so u can go to the spa everyday. You are such a cool wife.

https://www.badgerbalm.com/pc-21-2-anti-bug-balm.aspx

lili, I''m scare to used the chemicals in the house, little B might go lick it. Sorry to hear you and J are sick, hope you guys feel better soon.

burk, I feel so bad for your MS too. when I got sick when I was preggo with Jake I felt so awful. I was the worst mom b/c I ended up letting Lily watch so much tv just so I could lay down and rest
40.gif
. my oldest was at school so I wasn''t a bad mom to her
3.gif
. i hope it subsides for you quickly though and am glad the coke helps at least a little bit.

tacori- I hope you have a great trip and I agree that I don''t think you are being unreasonable at all. you''re not Kate G..I''m sure of it
2.gif

Janine, I wouldn''t worry about C just yet. kids develop at such different rates. the fact she''s starting to pull herself up in her crib is a great sign that pulling up to standing will be happening very soon.

Thanks ladies! I told my friend/neighbor who really does like my DH about our "fight" and how he said I sounded like Kate and she gasped. Haha. She ALWAYS tells me my DH wouldn''t last a week with her as his wife. She is way more controlling than I am. I guess that is the disadvantage of marrying your college sweetheart. He has never had a *really* serious relationship (as in living with, answering to, etc) besides me. So in a way I am all he knows. Obviously I do not know how to "train" him even though my friend assures me it is NOT too late. Haha. Meanwhile not sure why we thought it was a good idea to take a family trip to the mall
23.gif
Tessa was a terror. She screamed so bad I took her out of her stroller and spent the WHOLE time running after her. So annoying! Everyone but DH and I thought she was adorable.
20.gif

lili, I have a feeling this 5 lbs ain''t leaving.
38.gif
They are annoying. DH has too many *selfish* interest. They are all very time consuming but as much as I complain about him, he really is a great guy. He promised me he would watch T when he is not away. So we shall see. Maybe I will take a little road trip ALONE.

Puffy, you and I have a lot in common
2.gif
Where did we find these guys? *sigh* The life of a daddy sounds so wonderful.Do you have a feeling if it is a girl or a boy?

Bobo, thanks! Not sure there is a spa around there. Good idea though! Can you even imagine Tessa on the golf course? She would go CRAZY. SO much open space to run, run, run! As long as she didn''t get hit with any golf balls of course!

MrsS, thanks friend! I felt like comparing me to Kate was a HUGE insult!

Diva~So exciting that James is almost one!!

Tacori~Let''s just say I''ve wondered what the h*** I was thinking wanting to get preggo again.
40.gif
The zyrtec seems to be helping T''s allergies. Thank goodness. I hope you have a great trip! I agree with everyone you are not being unreasonable about golf. Gotta say I can completely relate since my DH played in golf tournaments Friday-Sunday last weekend!
20.gif
Oh, and then he''ll have golf league tomorrow night....I want to be a dad!!

puffy~Glad you guys are feeling better! I am praying the MS goes away at the 12 week mark, but not going to get my hopes up since it didn''t with T. We''re going to the zoo with my MIL tomorrow (who doesn''t know I''m preggo yet so that may get interesting) and the pool on a play date on Wednesday so I''m trying to pull through.
21.gif
T''s doing much better, thanks for asking. Sorry yours are bad, mine are too! Mine are rarely bad during the summer. Weird.

Bobo~I hope the all day MS goes away by 3 months. I can handle that. I totally understand not wanting to do chemicals because of little B.

mrss~Thanks so much for the coke recommendation...it seems to help a little. You were not a bad mom, but boy can I relate to feeling that way. Tayva asked me to turn Elmo on today and when I would normally tell her "no" I figured it would be great to entertain her for a little while so I could lay down!
5.gif
I''m really hoping it goes away around 12 weeks because I don''t know how I''ll do this until 17 like I did with T!

I don''t know the whole back story because I have only been skimming for photos, but this sentence jumped out at me and cracked me up!! Girl, I am so KG on some days! LOL!

tacori sounds like a fun trip to the mall!! i have been there too many times as well. haha. but lately, and i would hate to jinx it, B has been really good when we go out. i tell him he has to be because if he isn''t mommy''s going to get sick and won''t be able to play with him. hey, whatever works right? the life of a daddy does sound wonderful, which i tell my DH ALL the time. he really has NO IDEA...i swear he thinks that all i do is shop and buy stuff, but sure enough when he watches B for 1 hour, he is going crazy!!

burk sounds like you have an eventful few days ahead of you. your first appt is coming up, if i remember, next week? i hope you MS goes away soon, or at least subsides for a bit so you can enjoy the next few days with T. are you still able to take naps when T does?

i think i am finally in the 2nd trimester...meaning, i had an unbelievable amount of energy today. i got laundry done, cleaned, swept mopped the floors, cleaned all bathrooms, and even did a little online shopping. it was nice to not need a nap, but we''ll see if this continues. i was also telling DH that i think we''re having another boy. i had a crazy dream that we were getting the ultrasound done and the lady said we''re having a boy, and in my dream i was disappointed. so strange!!! 1 more month and we''ll find out.

Puffy--yay for the return of engergy!! Don''t bet on your dreams. I always had girl dreams-ha

Tacori--You are no KG (i love how she''s so well known she''s abbreviated). I would flat out say "uh, no. Not gonna happen buddy" . So i guess i am the KG
5.gif
.
Have fun on your trip!!!

Burk--sorry to hear you are not feeling well. Poor you, not a great way to spend the summer is it? All for a good cause however! Crappy that the weather is putting your building plans on hold too. We''ve hit some bad weather also. Things have been quiet for the past few days.

So my son is officially a nerd. My MIL bought him special walking booties. I think both my mom and MIL are convinced Co has some leg deformity or something and that is why he isn''t walking. He does kinda have a weirdly turned out foot but i ''ve read that this sort of thing usually straightens out when the kid actually starts walking and developes better muscle tone. Anyway, MIL bought these $70 boots
6.gif
. Ya, boots in the summer. I''ll have to post a picture b/c he looks ridiculous and *hot* in his shorts and boots ....sigh....for $70 he better wear them a few times right? In MIL''s presence
2.gif

Burk, I am sure the M/S will go away soon. At least I hope so!

Puffy, it was horrible. She was all over the place trying to destroy the displays. The funny thing is DH bought a lot of clothes. He HATES to shop but when he does he goes crazy and was making some surprisingly metro decisions. DH WILL tell me my job is harder than his which is true (Haha!) and very nice to hear. He knows it is crazy and difficult to be with her 24/7.

DD, I really don''t think I am like Kate at all. My nag levels are low but sometimes he makes me feel like I am. Annoying. But it is b/c he has no idea what other wives are like. I mean don''t get me wrong I am NOT perfect in any way but I wish he would criticize my REAL faults
2.gif

Jas12, ahhh, poor boy. My sister and I were 17 and 18 months so I think my mom was SHOCKED when T started walking so young. I am sure nothing is wrong. Can''t wait to see the boots. Sounds hysterical. I guess my DH is not great at compromise and I get tired of fighting and give in easily. Not sure what the perfect formula is for a family vacation. Golfing every other day? Who knows. Just hope I don''t get too pissed off.

Tacori--perfect formula for a family vacation is *make mom happy*
3.gif
2.gif
Happy mom = happy everyone.
But in all honesty, a few (as in max 3 rounds of golf would be okay in my books). I am usually not a nagger either. After 12 years, we''ve got things down to a science, but i will still occasionally put my foot down on certain issues.

Ugh, i am bummed b/c i have this whole week off and it''s raining today, rained yesterday and forecast to rain all week.
38.gif
Don''t know what to do with myself and Mr. busy body??

Jas, too funny about the boots. I did go to a specialist with Amelia for her seriously pronated/funky foot and he said the same thing you are figuring...when they start walking, muscle tone builds up. The PT (a separate appointment) suggested I do things to work those muscles. Always bare feet if possible, have her practice walking on sand, or if you are at home, put lots of cushy tihngs on the ground like comforters to get those toes working.

The Ortho doc said not to worry unless she is not walking at 18-19 months, and if so, to come in and see him again. So we''ll see.

puffy: i can''t believe you''re in 2nd trimester...it''s going so fast! I can''t wait for the big reveal..

burk: hope the m/s gets better..

tacori: i hope DH realizes soon who''s right (hehe). I don''t nag either (I''m more likely to try to do everything myself), but I do call DH out when necessary! Luckily he falls into line easily and I agree marrying later helped in that he came previously trained, plus he learned to cook and clean (better than me) during those single years! But on the other hand, he''s more set in his ways. Maybe your DH doesn''t take you seriously when you raise issues b/c you are so laid back? I''d say it''s better to lay down the law on these big issues (putting you first more, etc.) so they don''t keep reappearing. Hope I''m not getting too personal, god knows I"m just figuring out the marriage/family/independence balance myself!

tgal: do you remember when amelia first stood assisted? C also has a slightly funky foot, kinda turned more than the other, but she always curls them in when barefoot, so who knows if I''m seeing things. Good to hear it all balances out in the end anyway!

thanks everyone else for the feedback--we have the u/sound this thursday, so hopefully can rule anything concerning out and that all it is is a question of time (fingers crossed).

Janine, I don''t really remember. If you mean us supporting her middle while she gives some strength to her legs, she was definitely doing so at around the 8.5 month mark because I remember she was standing on TGuy''s lap while leaning on him (and he had his arm around her waist). I have photos of that one while we were in Australia, so I can document she was at least doing it by that point.

As far as pulling up and standing while holding onto something, that didn''t happen until she was a year old.

*sigh* I think we have fleas, AGAIN. Someone remind me why I live in SoCal again?

Oh yeah, the nice weather. FLEA breeding weather!

We had M''s first swimming lesson last sat, and she did great. I thought she might be scared, but she walked to the side of the pool and wanted to get it. Probably b/c DH was aleady in; I thought she might still be hesitant, but nope. She splashed the water and kicked. We took her to the pool at SIL''s apt on sun. She didn''t like being in that pool as much, might have something to do with the pool not being heated. She wanted to get out after 15min.

And I guess I look pregnant already. =(. SIL asked me why I was due last fri, but no one told her I was pregnant. I am only 10 weeks or so. I am doing well. Just tired and hungry all the time. No m/s really, some nauseaness and bloating now and then. I haven''t taken any belly pics for this pregnancy yet, so bad.

And now my attempt to catch up.

Puffy
Can''t believe you are in 2nd tri already. So fast.
Yay for the burst of energy! I can''t wait til then.
I think you are having a boy too, but all my guess on the pregnancy thread had been wrong so far.
Glad Brady is feeling better.

MrsS
glad you are almost done w/ unpacking. Then you can enjoy the new home.
So cute that Jakeholds his hand to his ear when the phone rings. When the phone rings in our house, M gets really excited and screams until someone picks up the phone or it stop ringing.

Jas12
Wow Co is a baby genius.
What are the boots suppsed to do? Correct the feet position? MIL and FIL is always tellinge that something is wrong with M''s feet/ leg position b/c her feet are turned out to the sides. And they keep insisting that I get shoes for M to walk.

snlee
how''s the house coming along?
We were planning to visit again in Sept, but not sure if we can still do it b/c my Dr prefers that I don''t travel after 5 months. Super conservative.

Bobo
Sorry about the ants problem. Don''t know any natural ways to get rid of them. Hopefully you''ll find something that works.
Poor little B. 4 teeth at a time.

Burk
Sorry you have full blown m/s. Hope it goes away sooner than 17 weeks this time.
I am feeling ok. It''s still a pretty easy pregnancy so far. Thanks for asking.
Poor Tayva with her allergy. I understand your DH''s reason for not giving the medicine, but sometimes it needs to be used consistently.

Janine
Sounds like C is doing great.
No experiences with not standing. M was standing before she crawled. I wouldn''t be too concerned about it though; C is only 9 months.
Pulling up in the crib - she''ll just have to figure it out. M is still constantly pulling herself up and not sitting back down, even though she knows how.
Diapers - I still like the cruisers over the bay dry even with the new no mesh design. Baby dry just feels so thin to me, and the stretchable tabs in the cruisersare better for mobile babies.

Tacori
Have a good trip. You are a extremely understanding wife.

Diva
Happy Birthday James!!! (in case I don''t post again before thurs.)
Are you having his party this weekend?

lili
How''s miss J? Are you two feeling better?

I have a question. Yesterday I noticed that M had red spots around her mouth after eating cheese. Does that mean she is allergic? I also started mixing 1 oz of whole milk with BM yesterday. MIL said that M did fine and didn''t get any rashs or reacted to it. Should I continue with the whole milk and cheese?

TGal--
LOL...it is funny how differently our babies develop.
And I have to say that I''m amazed, but not surprised since she''s so into music, that A can carry a tune.
A future singer in the making perhaps?
5.gif

That''s funny that A is so cautious.
J is on the other end of the extreme, though she will look at new things for a second before she charged at it.
And she''s like that w/ food too...so I guess that''s good.
She''ll try anything new, but liking it is another issue since she''s a picky eater.
It''s funny when she tries new food. She''ll take a bite and spit it back out. She''ll eat it on the next bite, otherwise she''ll walk away.

L2L--
We got the straw munchkin for her.
She never did take to the sippy cup. always chewing on the spout instead.
Like others have said, try different cups (sippy and straw) and see which ones Parker likes.
J didn''t drink from the straw until she''s about 8.5 months.
My sister (recommended by her friends) got my nephew one other those take-n-toss sippys, and he liked them.
I think TGal''s A also like those sippy too.

MrsS--
Poor Jake w/ the teething.
It seems like all the babies are having their teeth this month.
J''s molars are coming in too....can''t see how many since she won''t open her mouth long enough for me to see.

Burk--
Bummer, thought that you''d escape ms this time around.
Sorry to hear that it is hitting you just as hard as last time.
Hopefully, it''ll be shorter and won''t go into 17 weeks.
Poor Tayva w/ her allergy. I don''t like medicine as well, but if the medicine is a huge improvement on her sneezing and congesting, I''d give it to her til the last drop.
Hope you and Tayva are back to your old selves soon.

Janine--
We use the Pampers cruisers as well.
Love them. They provide a snug fit and I love the material (less plastick than others).
Super absorbent as well. I swear J''s wet diaper can be 5 times bigger (when rolled up) than her clean diaper.
Must holds like a coke can of water.

Diva--
Yay for the first 2 steps!
Can''t believe James is going be to one already.

Curly--
Wow, looks like Lucy is going to running around w/ her big sis pretty soon.

Jas12--
23.gif
$70 for baby shoes? That''s probably how much I''ve spend on shoes total in the last 10 yrs
41.gif

Co sounds so cute in his getup. Can''t wait to see pictures of him.

Puffy--
Oo.....one months time til you find out the sex.
What''s your intuition what it is going to be this time?
That''s great that you get your energy back.
Enjoy the second trimester.

Bobo--
Yeah, I know how you feel about the chemical.
We only use it in places that we know J doesn''t play around too much.

Tacori--
Ha, I''d take the Kate comparison as an insult too (even though there are times that I will nag hubby like crazy :P)

QT--
That''s great M enjoyed her first swimming lesson.
Do you happen to capture the moment on your DSLR.
We are 90% recovered. Still have this persistent phlegm though.
Hmm....don''t know if that''s a reaction.
You can give her a little bit again and see if the same thing happen.

Guess who just hit 10,000 posts?! That blabbermouth, TGal!!!! I just started a thread in Hangout.

TGal, we love you!!! Don''t ever change!

jas12 i have got to see this pic of Co with these boots on. i kinda cracked up just reading your post. but i am sure that nothing is wrong with him at all, he just likes to be on all fours.

tacori it must be nice to have your DH tell you that being with T 24/7 is hard. my DH knows it is, but he likes to think that i have an easy life because i don''t really work, whatever. he likes to tell people that i have it good, but then i have to remind him that he can''t even watch B for 1 hour, let alone 1 day. so i have to sarcastically tell him sometimes that i''m going to go on a trip by myself and he has to watch B...he gets pretty nervous. haha. i guess your DH was ready for some changes in his wardrobe.

qt i have got to see your belly. i can''t believe it''s popping already, but you were such a skinny minnie to begin with, so maybe that''s how she knew. i definitely have a bump, but only at night. in the morning, i look like my normal self, well at least i think i do. but i have had people tell me that they see a bump going on.

lili honestly, i really want a girl, i mean what mom doesn''t. but i am not getting my hopes up as i really do think i am having another boy, which is totally fine. i just don''t want to build up my hopes and act like i''m disappointed cause as long as baby is healthy, i am perfectly happy with whatever i am having. how are you and J doing? getting better?

B had a fever last night, and it was rough. he usually never really wants me when he''s sick, he just wants to go to sleep. but he was up about every 2 hours screaming for me. i was so miserable this morning. he took a morning nap, and so did i. i couldn''t do it...not nap. he still has a fever now, so almost time for his next dose of motrin. poor kid, i swear he was just getting better.
