How have I missed this thread?!?!?! That is an awesome diamond--can''t wait to see pics of the final product!!!

Best of luck with the proposal and the bar exam--at least with this ring, you are guaranteed to ace one of them.

Thanks, Lorelei, Ellen, Brown Eyed Girl & jet2ks!

Despite my summer study resolution, I can''t divert my thoughts from this ring!

Lorelei - Yes, Brian and Lesley really are fantastic. And I have to repeat a question I''ve seen many times already on RT--does Lesley ever sleep?! Incredible. I don''t know if I''ll ever want to work with anyone else.

Ellen - I don''t know if I can really bring myself to lock the rock up . . . so I think I''m just going to have to move the proposal up instead!

Haven''t yet decided how to pop the question, but jet2Ks thinks the ring will speak for itself, and I tend to agree!

Jet2ks - Thanks for chiming in with your support!

Brown Eyed Girl - How nice to see a fellow lawyer-to-be on this board. I worked in the Fin Dist last summer and am returning this fall. Try to go to as many lunches and events as possible, and don''t fret about the August offer; deferred or not, everyone will share the same fate, so you might as well leave with a full stomach!

I can''t wait to be able to post images! Soon, soon.

And I think jet is right.

Well, I''m bored and already impatient for this ring to arrive (it''s been a whole two business days since I ordered it!

), so I''m going to follow up on a question I asked earlier on this thread, which no one responded to.

My question was about 3D renderings of ASET images. Lesley sent me these pics, and I thought they were really neat, although I can''t really say I understand what they mean. Brian explained that they essentially project the ASET into three dimensions; they usually don''t take these shots of stones, but I guess they were experimenting with new equipment. Is anyone familiar with this technology?

So,

I know that no one is as obsessed with the fact of my impending proposal as I am, but I figured I'd return to this thread just to post the image of the 1.706 ct I VS2 stone I ended up purchasing, for the sake of completeness.

I actually bought the diamond without having seen this image--I trusted the ASET, IS, and Brian and Lesley's eyes. But seeing so many gorgeous stones being posted over the past couple of days made me envious. When I asked Lesley for an image, I discovered that Brian hadn't had time to take one, since I had snatched up a relatively new stone and they'd sent it to the jeweler to be set as quickly as possible. Lesley kindly offered to retrieve it and set back the delivery date by one day. I balked at the idea of having to wait even one more day, but at nearly midnight last night, Lesley wrote: "We managed to steal your stone away from the jewelers for a couple of hours and Brian photographed it and then gave it right back so there was no disruption in the schedule."

I must be such a pain to work with, but Brian and Lesley's service continues to impress me. Can you believe they've told me that I should receive the ring by mid-next week?!?!

Without further ado, here she is:

Well done, sir! I think we''ve done well.

By the way, what have you decided to do about insurance? And I''ve been racking my brain, but is there anything other than "diamond and setting" and insurance that I should be thinking about?

I''m not sure what I''m going to do about insurance. I''ve been thinking that as well. There are lots of threads, and Chubb appears to be one of the preferred policy issuers. The BGD website recommends www.touchstoneinsurance.com, which I haven''t checked out yet. Let me know what you decide to do.

Other than that, I may buy one of those ultrasonic cleaners I''ve seen mentioned on this forum. Maybe the Sharper Image brand, although I think Ellen recommended something else as well. I''ll have to search the posts for that.

Sorry, that Touchstone Insurance link doesn''t work. You''ll have to Google it. I haven''t checked it out yet.

No problem.

So, as soon as I hit submit, I think I''m going to walk over to my phone, pick it up, dial Lesley''s number, and buy this rock. AAAGGGHHH so nervous

Congrats!!!!

It''s a beautiful stone.

Agreed. Your fiance to be is one lucky woman!

Hey Jason, if that was my stone and ring in progress I wouldn''t be able to be distracted from it either!!!!! I''ve no idea what the 3D images are supposed to mean, but they''re cool! Can''t wait til you post final pics, it will be just perfect. (and details of proposal of course!) What a lucky lady ...

The 3D image looks like just the projection of the color scale in the third dimension, guess it is better for evaluation of ASET image for people with colorblindness? I think there are 3 kinds of colorblindness, red, green and blue, so one for each color of the ASET.

Congrats to both John and Jason!!!!!!!!!!!!

However you choose to set it, it is a beautiful diamond, all the best

It''s on its way, everyone! That means tomorrow is the day! But for now, here are the photos Lesley sent me--between 11:30 PM and 4:00 AM!!!
