The AGS cut range is a guide for cutters. It is shown on the HCA. It tends to be the proportions that sit in the middle of the GIA Ex grade. In fact, I believe that GIA should introduce an "ideal" grade that sits in the heart of their Excellent grade. It would cover a similar set of proportions to AGS 0.
But a stone doesn''t automatically qualify for AGS 0 if it fits within that range; it also needs to pass their other criteria.
