Proportion Scope

I''ve been calling a lot of local jewelers for referrals to gemologist who do Sarin Reports. I haven''t had too much luck. I finally got a hold of an indendent appraiser, who does not sell stones or jewelry. He uses a PROPORTION SCOPE.

Has anyone heard of this and is it as accurate as the Sarin Report?

The sarin report gives a more detailed analysis (of each individual facet), but the gemologist should be able to give you the following with a combination of the proportionscope, direct measurement and observation:

mm measurements
total depth
table size
crown height (average)
crown angle (estimated)
pavilion depth (average)
pavilion angle (estimated)
girdle thickness
culet size
polish
symmetry
