Is the surface of a cavity in a diamond the same as the surface of cut unpolished diamond or the surface of an open feather or is the cavity surface sealed in someway?
This question is being asked for a natural diamond and for a polished diamond.

The surface of a cavity is rough, unpolished diamond. It is not sealed by anything. It is soemwhat of a hle into the stone whether it is an uncut diamond or a finished, faceted diamond. No one goes into a cavity to polish or work on it with the exception of laser drilling and/or bleaching at times when the stone might look better if it was worked on.
