Proper Size? (Picture included)

I have a size 6 engagement ring (2 cts) and it slides past the knuckle very smoothly during hot days (swollen fingers). It falls off when I wash my hands with soap and water. I heard wearing the engagement ring with a wedding band will help and tested it out. The engagement ring is still very loose. If I shake, my hand the engagement ring is close to falling off.

What size shpuld I resize to? Will 5.75 be enough or should I go down to 5.5? I worry about the winter time when my fingers will be much smaller.

As far as I'm concerned if they fall off when you wash your hands, or shake your hands, they are too big. Have you had your finger measured?

I did try a few store's ring sizer. They all recommended 6 because their 5.5 was snug on me.

Honestly, as someone who has sized and resized rings in haste with guesswork (and got it wrong), I would buy this or similar:

Check the actual size of your ring on the mandrel (different stores vary). Then try on the tester rings (they come off the hook) during your daily activities, washing hands, shaking them around etc, at different times of day over a few days. Check the size of the one that fits best. Then get that. (If it's only half sizes and adjacent ones are too tight and too loose, go for the three-quarter size). Oh and make sure you take the ring that fits to the shop and get them to size it on THEIR mandrel as it may not be the same as yours.

I have one of these and wish I had bought it years ago.

It does seem like it's too big - I prefer my rings to have a *little* resistance over the knuckles (at least in the summer) so I don't have to worry about them falling off. Especially with a stone the size of yours!
