for anyone who has looked or purchased, around how much do the empire waist Pronovias gowns run? just the more simple ones, with the embellishment at the waist and not much else.

thanks!

Even the simple ones often run for $5000 and up. Sometimes simple gowns are actually more expensive.
What range are you looking for? Is there a particular dress you love? We are pretty good at finding similiar dress for people.

The Pronovias gowns I tried on ranged from 1,500 all the way to 6,000...so it really depends!

You should also try San Patrick and LaSposa, they are part of Pronovias and have the same beautiful quality and the beauty is that RKBridal carries San Patrick so you can get your gown for 60% less than at regular retail stores! they don''t carry Pronovias though.

I have never heard of RKBridal. Where is that at?

i believe it''s called Clara, the Pronovias gown.

and there is also one by Matthew Christopher called Josephine and is so so so pretty. i think they are both out of my price range, which is likely up to $2000.

rkbridal is a bridal store in NY...they do mail orders, which is how I got my gown...and I saved so much money!!! (rkbridal.com)

They also have other places, like pearlsplace, house of brides, etc..

oooh ok thanks!

kelly, I suggest calling some bridal stores and getting a quote for the dress.

ooh the Clara...ahhh...I know someone on here posted about that dress. Did you try searching it? I don't know if a price was listed, but worth a look.

ETA: It was musey who had tried it on.

No way!! At least not the ones I tried on.

The one I bought is the Nerveo, which was $1825 after tax. The more simple Clara (that I also ADORE) was tagged at $2175, but at a more overpriced shop than where I bought the Nerveo.

ETA: The difference may be the shops... the first time I tried on the Nerveo it was tagged at well over $2000 (I'm gonna try to dig up the old thread, but I wanna say $2600? eta: nope, $2100, still significantly more than the before-tax price of $1560 at the other shop).

Also, the Clara and Nerveo are both mostly a mesh fabric, which may run much less than the satins and silks.

I don't know that it would necessarily be all that helpful, but here's my thread where I tried on/mentioned the Clara.

My last post was confusing. Here's my summary:

Shop 1 (Marylinn's Bridal in Pasadena, CA)
Nerveo: $2100
Clara: $2175

Shop 2 (La Soie Bridal in Torrance, CA)
Nerveo: $1560
Clara wasn't carried there

(all before tax... also this was in December, I'm not sure if that would impact anything)

So it stands to reason that if I could find the Nerveo brand spankin' new with custom hem length/etc. for under $2000, you can find the Clara for under $2000 as well.

I agree, the Pronovias dresses I saw were pretty much between $1400-$2200. The San Patricks were on the lower end of that.

tonight is the first dress shopping trip. the store we''re going to carries Mon Cheri and there is a dress called Rhiannon that i like that is sort of similar style to the Clara, probably costs about half the price. if the whole empire waist doesn''t look good on me, my whole plan is shot and i have to start from square one and find a style that works. that would be the ultimate frustration!!

Kelly, the Matthew Christopher Josephine which I adore and have even dreamt about was $3500 in the shop I tried it on at. It''s even more beautiful in person, but I can''t pull off an empire waist.

OUCH, sap....about twice what i''d like to spend.....but it''s so lovely. i''d call some shops and see if they will quote me over the phone before i go in, fall in love with it, and then end up disappointed that i can''t afford it!

Kelly, have you looked at Rosa Clara? Now, I have no idea what their prices are like, but another PSer bought a dress from there so I checked out their site. Their dresses are gorgeous, and similar to Pronovias. If I hadn't already bought my dress, I definitely would have tried some of those on. Its http://www.rosaclara.es/.

ETA: You might like the Magdalena from the '08 Rosa Clara collection!

looks like Rosa Clara is only available in Spain, Portugal, and the UK... so i''m out of luck. shame, those are gorgeous gowns!!

wow-- i just got home from my third dress shopping outing. at this shop, i had the chance to try on the Matthew Christopher Josephine. it is everything i hoped it would be! and i had the most wonderful consultant who put a matching tiara and veil on me to give me the whole picture.

the hard part-- it''s a lot more than i was hoping to spend. and considering my next most favorite gown was only $900, the $3,559 price tag looks even works. i just don''t know. you only do this once, but i didn''t want to break the bank here. and now i''m wondering if Josephine is too fancy for my venue, if that doesn''t sound silly. i''m probably overthinking it.

any suggestions? i''m not done shopping yet, but it''s going to be hard to beat this one i saw tonight.

I saw a few gowns with empire waists in the size 4 or 6 section of preownedweddingdresses.com last month when I was looking for a friend.

They were sample sizeish and super cheap. Good brands too.

Where are you located? There''s a salon in San Francisco that carries Rosa Clara.

Not true! I bought mine at a salon in Washington, DC! I am sure that a lot of boutiques carry the designer - there just isn''t a standalone Rosa Clara store in the US.

Mine was pretty pricy, though - lace with silk chiffon pleats (no embroidery or other embellishments) and it was around $6000. I believe their more simple designs should be less - they have some gorgeous styles!!
