Hello All,

I am having a 6 prong setting made, and I wanted to ask for some help selecting which one. I am thinking petite claws as the stone in a round brilliant, but I am worried about hearing how Claws, can "catch" on things. Would them being petite help a bit?

Also, can anyone tell me the terminology for the edge or rim of a setting. I believe a local jeweler said it was called Mirco something. Usually seen on vintage rings. Photo attached and if you zoom in on the edge you can see what I mean. Screenshot_20220811-162145~2.png

I think petite claw prongs are a great choice for your ring. When done well (i.e. no gap between the prong and the diamond), they should not catch on things.

Do you mean "milgrain"?

@Kim N,

Perfect, I will ask for the petite claws!

And Yes, that is the word, "Milgrain".

Once again, thank you!
