This is cross-posted in RT, but I thought I could get some help here also - hope that''s okay.

There have been some posts about prong set eternity bands - how the girdles can scratch the ering if worn without a spacer. Is this true for all eternity bands - no matter the shape? I have an eternity band with RBs where I can defintely see how this could happen - it''s like a little saw! Would it be the same for a square cut stone - eg asscher or emerald cut eternity band? Would a prong setting for those stones create the same risk? Thanks much!

unfortunately, I have had this occur with my shared prong eternity ring. Not pretty. There is one other alternative I am looking at. BGD does a v-cut pave band and Leon also does one
he calls mushroom pave. They both have flat sides as opposed to the bumpier sides and open girdle of the shared prong. You might want to look into that as an alternative to shared prong
or channel set.

I vote v cut pave:-) it''s gorgeous!

If the stones from the eternity band touch your engagement ring at all, then it will scratch, no matter the style. Channel eternity bands obviously won''t have that problem, but I''m sure there are prong eternity bands out there that will work much the same way. As long as there is metal between the 2 rings rather than stone girdles, anything will work.
