I just got engaged and got a beautiful ring w/ a custom setting 18K from my boyfriend of 5 years.

Here are the specs
EGL Certificate
1.41ct
Rect. Mod. Brilliant
H
VS2
6.57 6.16 4.46
Depth 72.4
Table 83.0
Crown 5.7
Pavilion 63.3
Girdle thin to thick
Polish Good
Symmetry Good
Florescence none
Cutlet none
Ratio 1.7
UGS Appraisal Value $12,340

I know the specs are not ideal in my large table and low crown but the stone is beautiful. It is extremely Brillant and sparkly it has some rainbow colour but mostly a whole lot of brillancy probably due to the large table no dark spots and very white looking. I get compliments all the time on how shiny/sparkly and large it is. People think the center stone is about 2cts. I have been reading here alot and have learned that sometimes you can have a princess cut w/ not so hot sounding specs and it looks great. Do the specs change when you have more of a rec shaped princess? I just wanted to post my good experience with a not so ideal sounding princess. The only thing is do any of the experts here think my boyfriend got a good price on my ring. The setting is 4 princess cut diamonds each side in a channel setting W/3 baguets each side 1.3cts - 2.7 cts total white gold. My boyfried spent $8300 total for the ring. Also I don't like one of my prongs it looks small then the others and is slightly not in line w/ the others. See pic at bottom sorry the pic is not the greatest but only one that did not come out blurry. Is this a easy fix? My jewler said they were fine and not to mess w/ them but it really bothers me but if it is dangerous to change it then i will leave it.

Congratulations on your engagement! And I think your ring is beautiful!

Regarding the prongs... are you referring to the upper left prong? I honestly had to look long and hard at your (magnified) photo to even notice it. I can certainly understand how things like this can "bother" us... but IMHO, it looks just fine.

Thank You. I think I'm being a little crazy about the prong. I love my ring it is very me.
