Ok, I saw a radiant stone, I brought my sister (who has better eyes than I do) and she said " I saw the radiant cut and I wanted to hate her because she wasn''t a princess- but I couldn''t , I just loved her- she was alive!" and I agreed- her cut was very good and it made this stone come to life.

I saw a D, 4.21, SI1 - with such a bad cut, I didn''t even have to look at the measurements, because no amount of paperwork was going to save this one!

What do you guys think about a radiant vs a princess cut.
This one is a 4.12, E, Si 1- 68K-
Is this price too high?
Flurenscence - none
cut very good, symmetry very good-

and do you think that because it is big (4 looks bigger than I thought) - is it possible to have a stone like that look cheap and gaudy- because of its size. Women tell me they would never wear that because it is too guady-

Is it possible to have a ring that is too big?

With your help, and some praying, I am being lead to my diamond- I can feel it, I am close.

I actually do think so but it depends on the shape of stone, setting & the wearer.

Radiants are a busy look so I don''t think, personally, I''d want that. Now a 4 ct. princess in a quiet setting probably would work. JMO.

Also, is the wearer a petite person or a larger person?

It''s hard to evaluate the stone without all the information, do you have the depth, table, girdle percentages? Also, do you have any images? You liked it which is what matters most, but it is great to see a radiant. You can see whether that is a fair price by using the pricescope search tools and comparing it to other stones with similar certs, carat weight, color, and clarity. Go to the prices tab and then price comparison.

I personally prefer radiants to princesses, but this is preference. There isn''t a right and wrong here, buy what you like the most!

As far as the stone being to large that is personal preference as well. Some here would love having a stone in the 4 carat range while others might feel uncomfortable wearing it. Wear what you like and be proud of it, that is what matters most!!

I think the rule applies to all diamonds, regardless of weight, but maybe a little more to bigger stones. Always make sure you buy a great cut diamond with the right color (preference) and that is eye clean and then use a tasteful setting to compliment the diamond.

Of course this is a subjective matter, but in my experience the large stones like this are worn by old ladies with hideous settings that do anything but make it look beautiful. On top of it all, there is the "old lady perfume smell" that accompanies it. Yuck!
