I think it's really interesting that we talk about diamonds that are too deep or too shallow without quantifying what makes a diamond "too much" of anything. As I said before, I would never buy a diamond that was too deep (over the 75%) but I do think that princess cut diamonds with depths up to that % are great! I guess the question this raises for me are what do the experts feel is the prime depth to look for? Is there such a thing? Throughout my diamond hunt I really came to understand the importance of proportions between the table, depth, crown, etc., but other than the cut charts there didn't seem to be any information on princess cut stones that came close to the specifics for rounds. I'm therefore wondering what the experts consider stones that are too deep, and when the depth of a stone is going to take away from its beauty no matter how well the diamond proportions are cut. Any insight?
