Hi all,
I am looking for a princess cut diamond to wear in a chunky right hand ring. So far have seen one ring I like with the following diamond in it.
I don't know a whole heap about diamonds, so it doesn't need to be perfect - just look nice!
This is what I can gather from the GIA report:
Square modified brilliant (does this just been princess?)
1.43 ct, G, VS1
6.27 x 6.18 x 4.54
Polish - very good
Symmetry - very good
Fluorescence - none
Girdle - med-slightly thick
Table - 70%
Depth - 73%
Cutlet - 0

Any advice on whether this is a good choice would be appreciated!
Thanks!

You will get a lot of replies here saying that you need pictures and images to judge a princess cut or any other fancy cut....and this is probably true if you are looking for a ''perfect'' diamond.

That said, this is not always possible, if you are buying from BN or locally. The numbers look quite good. AGS has published grading numbers for this that can be found by a search, and the numbers you have register quite well. I have bought three different princesses lately from BN with very similar percentages and have loved them all.

There is another thread going on right now dealing with what the average joe/jane and see in a diamond of VG verses Ideal cuts which is interesting....because who is going to be looking at the diamond....friends and family or gemologists???

Ok, had a look at the cut tables on this website, and the diamond looks as though it''s a class 1B.... not sure if that means anything, but at least it''s looking good! also it looks great in person, and I love the ring, so thinking it might be a good one!
Just hoping the size is ok. I want it to feel big, but worried I''ll get used to it after a while! Don''t think i can afford anything bigger anyway!

Welcome to PS Kej and JS!

JS you have obviously been reading LOL as we do indeed need pics and ASET images with fancy shapes! It is also really hard to predict a Princess or any other fancy shape by numbers, as there are so many appearances and performances that can arise from a set of combos...So what I would do Kej is to ask the seller if they can send you some pics, that might be possible for them if an ASET isn't. This one probably doesn't look absolutely square if you have seen it?
