I am going to buy an engagement ring for my gf. Thinking princess cut, ideal cut, g-d, vs2-if, and .75-1.25. Then I am going platinum, solitaire, and cathedral for the band itself. I found this:

...and I think it's a good deal. A similar one that goes just over 1 carat is $2K more.

Should I bite the bullet?

I have not exhausted this forum yet, so besides bluenile, anywhere else you can recommend to get a stone and ring like this? My price range is flexible, but I would rather not spend more than 6K total for engagement ring.

Thanks in advance for help and advice.

For ideal cut princess stones, I'd look at Good Old Gold, WhiteFlash, and Brian Gavin. They'll have pictures of the stones they actually have in-house. You need to see actual pictures of the stone if you go with any shape other than a round. Does your girlfriend prefer princess cut?

Okay, I have found what I think is a great one. Just be sure you out a hold on it if you are interested because there are so many lurkers!

Brain Gavin also has a .90 G VS2:

These vendors have excellent upgrade policies and are known for high quality and good selection of settings.

Awesome, thanks diamondseeker2006!

Yes, she prefers Princess Cut. I like it too, but I like round as well. But now that I know what she likes, why deviate?

I would definitely recommend going with a vendor that provides images for princess cuts.

Oh, absolutely! It is vastly easier if you know what she prefers!
