Well I was looking for some round brilliant stones until I found out my girlfriend actually preferred the princess cut and also a three stone. I want her to love the ring so I figured I should listen to her :)

I was hoping for some guidance on where I should look for princess cut along with a 3 stone setting. The princess seems harder to find than a round cut. My budget is around $3,500 so I am not sure what to expect really, might not be enough for a 3 stone. Hoping you guys can work some magic. Thanks

I was actually looking at that setting and it seems very nice.

It doesn''t seem to come with sidestones so a diamond that expensive would definitely put me over budget. I was thinking .5 and .25 sides but I could not find any that small.

How about http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/settings-with-sidestones/ring/item_58-877.asp leaves $2000 for a center stone, which should get you around a .70ct center! The ring has .32 sides so if you can swing a diamond over .65ct center it would be a nice balanced ring!

Thanks Dreamer, that''s a nice setting as well.

What color and clarity should I be looking at? I know I want a great cut but I''m not sure if princess color/clarity look the same as round cut.

Princess cuts do show a little more color than RBs, but in the size you are looking at it is less of a concerns really -- smaller stones show less body color. Have you seen diamonds in person? Is you gf savvy about diamonds? I would think you can go for H color for sure, and if you know she is not color sensitive, then I color. I would personally look for an eye clean SI1 to maximize budget. James Allen is a good place to start because they have good prices, but you will need to weed through the stock to find contenders. Use the information here: https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/princess-cut-diamond/ to helof you pick some contenders, then you can ask JA is the contenders are eye clean, and finally request an ASET image from James Allen and post it here for us to see!

Here is a nice big one that squeeks in under your budget with PS discount (as about that). GOG can probably source you a setting like the JA one, perhaps without the channel set diamonds to bring the cost down. http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/6955/

The I color of this diamond is probably no problem at all unless you know you are color sensitive, and it is a nice size for your budget! If you are interested, reserve it because lurkers steal diamonds all the time

Alright I will try and reserve that diamond. I do not think an I color will really be a problem as she doesn''t know a lot about diamonds like myself.

So I should reserve the diamond and then ask if it is eye clean with a clear definition and show them a picture of the JA setting and see what they can do?

Seems simple but we''ll see haha

Yup! You may be able to order the JA setting if need be, but it is most likely a stock cast setting that GOG can order too.

I think it does come with sidestones.
