Prince Harry just lost his court case. His response ...

I feel that their wish for ambiguity and yet their desire for wealth and notarity is in direct conflict. They are both total mess. Harry and Meghan left Britain for the USA, yet expect to be treated like royalty... I think not. I don't at all feel sorry for them. From their documentaries and books to the fluff shows that Meghan is peddaling, they both make me sick.

(Edited for spelling!)

All true, which makes me even more of a hypocrite.
Expressing my opinion is not the same as preaching that others should share it.

And yes, I know many subjects love the status quo.
So be it.
As some extremely handsome man here once posted ... (actually a zillion times) ... people vary.
:wavey::wavey::wavey:

your all right Kenny:appl:
you'd still be on my Christmas card list if we still had one

we stopped doing xmas cards becuase we used to fight too much over my bad spelling :(2

i keep thinking about all the lovely American ladies than he could have married - millions and millions of them who could have gone on to do so much good
lucky for them they didnt (and Chelsy Davy and Cressida Bonas)

no one cared she was American or half black
we were just interested in her and genuinly wished her well
she must have had an agenda from the begining
i wont share the dept of those thoughts as i do buy into some of the stuff that is easy to find on you tube

Half black? Huh?
Which half is which?
Both halves look the same to me.

the 43 % Nigerian she claimed and a lot of make up

I enjoy your posts Daisy but I also don't want to cross any lines when it comes to someone's race. Race doesn't make an iota of difference to me and I hope its the same for those who post on here.

With that said, it amazes me that kings and queens still exist this day in age. Ordinary people who have been told they are somehow "special" and deserve extra benefits and demeanors when "commoners" are in their presence. The whole things makes me pause but I often wonder what day England will wake up and say enough of this.

"Queen" Elizabeth was a wonderful spokesperson for England, God rest her soul. When I think of Charles, my mind locks in on "tampon man". What a leader.. This wonderful country will evolve someday and it will move away from a monarchy and reestablish itself. Then the pettiness this family is currently living through will be their personal lives and not on display for the world. To me, the Monarchy has served it's purpose and is now just a slot for a group of people who have no hirable skills.

@Sunrises Sunsets ive come back to edit my post as i dont want to sound grumpy or unfriedly, but my post covid head ache is real bad today and my spelling wprse than usual

fair pojnt but it works for us and plenty of us like it, if it aint broke dont fix it

and remember the UK is more than just England, we do not refer to the king or Queen as King or Queen of England and hanv't so since about 1707

Queen Elizabeth was a wonderful person for NZ also, no one not born in NZ will ever love us or protect our interests as deeply and heartfelt as the Queen and now King -certainly not a politican

as for the King, that was a deeply person phone call, plenty of people say far 'worse' to their sexual partners when no one is listening
i ignored it then and i ignore it now
sham on the press for reporting on that at the time also the squidgy tapes

the monarchy is soft deplomacy and it serves us well, much more so than any politican voted in for a few years, who upsets half of everyone (i am speaking in general here not nation speciafic )

Megahn said her self she was 43 % Nigearian yet before marrying H she had caucasian on her drivers licence and on her CV
as i said we didnt care hat she was, if she had been nice we wouldnt have cared if she was from mar,s and Nigeria is a big part of our commonwealth family
also a few years earlier she claimed she had ancestroy from Malta
this isnt about race, its about maths
NZ is a multi racial country and i know Maori people who just loved that Harry was marrying her and with what has happened that makes me so sad

what about her poor dad ? its like she dumped his side of the family when she had got all she needed from him, a private education, acting lessons, some small bit parts, oh and room and board and a tonn of love and sacrafice
plenty of restutarant meals yet she says she was a latch key kid who ate frozen meals, a car would pick her up after school and she would go to his father's work (the set of 90210)
i think we all missed him at the wedding
The late Queen wanted to do so much to help him but Meghan said no

its ironic H&M rejected Mr Markle when he did a small harmless staged photo shoot with the press when they have done so many interviews saying such unkind things (and maga lies) about Harry's family

my dad die when my sister was still in high school, we would do anything to have one more day with him

My view is that each country makes it's own decision. Some wise, some not so wise. If the monarchy serves the UK well, then I have no reason to think it should be abolished. But I'm not a UK citizen. It's up to them. And it's up to them how to deal with Harry. My opinion means nothing.

i feel so sorry for King Charles just being a father
he must be hurt and also worried on so many levels
he is sick and left right and center people are demanding things from him (regarding H&M)
the royal family are very good at playing the long game, never complain, never explain,
i am sure the King will pick up the pieces when the train crash finally happens, but i doubt the UK will ever welcome H back to public life after all he has said about the country, his family and also the commonwealth

you know before he met Meghan he toured NZ solo and he was so popular here then they both came here after the wedding
before the hot tea thing in Australia and her saying "i should be being paid for this' and then when he called the commonwealth empire 1.2 (or was it 2.0) , that disrespected all 2,7 billion of us and that must have really hurt the late Queen

I view this like you do @Lookinagain.

My only observation is at the end of the day, this is a family. I wish them all the best.

As for how they decide to handle the monarchy, that is up to them. It’s seems comical to me for Americans to be throwing any criticism. We sure don’t have our act together in the US. I can’t imagine the UK looking at the mess we’ve made here and thinking we have it all figured out.

@Daisys and Diamonds, You don’t sound grumpy. For all the goodness and grace you give here, I doubt anyone would be critical if you did sound grumpy every now and then. You are entitled to your feelings and I love hearing your opinions and thoughts on things. You make this place special.

Observations of the monarchy are just that. Wouldn't it be nice if the current monarchy family could pull down their petticoats for good and not have everyone peering at their bloomers.

I watched as many salivated over the details of Kate's whereabouts and illness information. How lovely it would have been for this woman to deal with her fight for her life in privacy and only her family involved.

I didn't see anyone actively protesting the monarchy or attempting to remove it. And the remark about the mess we have in the USA, it takes time to clean up the disorder that was left.

I agree, Daisy, the family did provide much soft diplomacy with Queen Elizabeth at the helm. There is an excellent reason she didn't turn over the leadership of the monarchy sooner because of her advancing age, I think she had little confidence in the next in line. That dear woman witnessed much disfunction in her family and it hasn't improved.

i felt so sorry for Katherine and her family including her mum and dad
i felt is was terrible they were presured into when to tell their children because the other kids at school might say something

I think Kate is the perfect representative for her status, and will be perfect as Queen. She's absolutely got all the rules down perfectly. I don't think she can be faulted for anything. If only Charles had picked such a wife the first time around. People have said Diana might have been perfect for Edward. I think she had higher aspirations possibly. I wish she was still with us. I'm also very impressed by Sophie, Incredible worker and always spot on in everything. And of course Princess Anne. Perfect as well. Thus ends my list, lol. I supposed Edward is also fine. Everyone else has issues, JMO. Edit: as for the children, Charlotte impresses me as well.

Thinking back...I wonder if there was any discussion about just Megan stepping down from royal duties and letting Harry continue doing
his royal thing? I know its probably not what H&M wanted, but I wonder if it would have worked out better in the long run. Megan
could retain a somewhat private* life and not have to do what she didn't want (the things she thought she should be paid for).

I know the Queen said you're either in or out...no in between. But, I wonder if they had considered doing "separate" jobs if it
could have worked out?

If ANY Brits are still concerned with keeping up appearances, it's the Royal family!

^ I loved that show.

Then, another show you may adore, even more, is the 1985 TV adaptation of E.F. Benson's book, Mapp and Lucia.
The is not the 2014 one sharing the same title.

Nobody but the Brits can produce characters as two-faced as these characters Mapp and Lucia.

A guy I was dating once turned me onto it.
He really nailed it when he called the series, "Bitches with Smiles"

To me, the Brits DO make TV that's far superior to America's drivel.

Both the 1985 and 2014 adaptations of Mapp & Lucia are now streaming on Amazon Prime.

However the apparently require additional payment via subscribing to "Britbox".

I'd love to share the 1985 one with my DH!
I might even pay to see again, which I've never done before.

I don't blame you, and I wanna watch more of it!
They nail this "it" so well, whatever it is.
The Brits pull off a deft subtlety and nuance rare in American productions!!! :lol-2:
It's probably over the heads of 77.4 million Americans.
But to hell with them.
Oh, what media gems the Brits give us! :kiss2:

Perhaps a country needs over a millennium of refinement to ascend to this rarified level.

@kenny I also enjoyed Black Adder and Are You Being Served.

Ohh, thanx.
I'll try them.
