Found this on another post (thanks for posting, Max!) and figured that it would benefit to have it posted in a thread of its own for archival search purposes in the future (you know when we tell people to run a search!)...so here it is.

Max was quoted this pricing from a HOF vendor...and noted correctly that most other HOF vendors would most likely sell at the same pricing. My experience with HOF was that they are not keen on price negotiation.

Color Clarity Price per Carat (0.5ct - 0.8ct range)
D VS1 $ 9,900.22
D VS2 $ 9,262.75
E VVS1 $10,671.41
E VVS2 $ 9,914.74
E VS1 $ 9,338.93
E VS2 $ 8,930.45
E SI1 $ 7,640.58
F IF $10,647.21
F VVS1 $ 9,901.06
F VVS2 $ 9,306.51
F VS1 $ 8,878.49
F VS2 $ 8,255.10
G IF $ 9,715.24
G VVS1 $ 8,829.80
G VVS2 $ 8,504.86
G VS1 $ 8,094.25
G SI1 $ 8,493.60
G SI2 $ 7,715.66
H VS2 $ 8,494.60
I VVS1 $ 8,431.10
I VVS2 $ 8,047.46
I VS1 $ 7,827.66
I VS2 $ 7,523.24
I SI2 $ 6,603.11
J VVS1 $ 7,004.35
J VS1 $ 6,893.99

Also wanted to add that we were quoted about $10k for a 1.02c G SI1 HOF and $7500k for an .80c H SI1 stone.

Have fun!

Haven't seen one of these in person before, but am kind of curious considering the hefty premium.

I love that....WOF. Hee Hee.

Boulder...the ones we saw were simply amazing..but again we were in the jewelers lights. However, those stones hands down blew away any I have seen since then, even the 8* in my opinion was not as good looking as the HOF. Part of my awe was that the saleslady put two side by side in a 3 stone ring for me to see what it would look like to have THREE HOF's and I almost passed out. Of course they were the first stones we looked at, when our search was just beginning...but they were beautiful. Worth the premium? Obviously not for us, as we did not end up with a WOF...but very beautiful just the same. I imagined traffic stopping on the street if someone was flashing a 3 stone ring with WOF's in it.

Mara,

Remember that the price per carat is for stones found in the .5-.8 range. Price for carat goes up as size goes up. 1 ct stones will surely cost more. Also note that these are HOF Dream, not Round.

Max

Mara,

I too am a "victim" of the HOF Dream. Just my luck by girlfriend doesn't like round jewels, and I have called her "my DREAM girl" one too many times... there is this nagging feeling in the back of my head that if I buy her anything else I will not be happy. While were were on the subject, I sent in a couple of questions to the "Diamond Wizard", here are his answers:

Please ignore the flaming sales pitch:

---------Begin Question 1--------------------
Diamond Wizard,

Two Dream diamonds:
#1 6.02x5.16x3.76mm
Table 53%
Total Depth: 62.5
Crown % 15.0
Crown Angle: 37.0
Depth %: 40.7
Depth Angle: 41.1
Girdle 1.7-2.7

#2 6.05x5.16x3.65mm
Table 53%
Total Depth: 60.3
Crown % 12.9
Crown Angle: 33.2
Depth %: 40.5
Depth Angle: 40.8
Girdle: 1.8-2.8

Which of the two has the better proportions? I am concerned about the crown depth (12.9 or 15.0) in relation to an equal table size (53).

---------Begin Response 1--------------------
Hi,

In either case the beauty of each Dream should be apparent to the eye of the beholder, a choice can only be made by comparing the diamonds side-by-side.

Both diamonds achieve the AGS Ideal Grade for Polish and Symmetry. In fancy shapes, however, there are no clear standards for Ideal Proportions.

Unfortunately all the percentages you are reading are based on techniques used for accurately grading round diamonds. The diameter used to calculate the depth percentage, is actually an average between the narrowest and widest measurements
across the Dream. But the remarkable thing is how consistent Dream is in having equal length and width from side-to-side. Also what is really the crown angle of Dream? There is no conventional main facet on the crown of Dream that extends from the girdle to the table, as there is in all rounds. This is because the crown facets of Dream have a patented design which heightens the contrast between all the crown facets to provide maximum sparkle!

Luckily Dream cutting is still a good part art. As a rule I don't like to get hung up chasing down all the minutiae on certificates. That puts too much power in the hands of technicians and number crunchers(

). Diamonds are meant to be enjoyed.

Hope this helps,

Yours truly the Wizard

---------Question 2--------------------

Diamond Wizard,

Where should I get my Hearts on Fire "Dream" appraised?

I don't expect my local appraiser to know the difference between a mall diamond and your works of art, how can I be sure to receive a "fair" appraisal?

---------Response 2 --------------------
Hi,

It is customary and OK with most insurance companies to have your diamond appraised by the same jeweler who sold it to you. The same is the case with Dream by Hearts On Fire. Be sure that your insurance company provides replacement by like value, in other words with another Dream of the same description.

If you prefer to take your Dream to an independent appraiser, that is also OK. Just be sure that they are professionals and that they contact our company for the correct suggested retail replacement value based on the diamond's inscription.

Yours truly the Wizard
--------------------------------------------

Hum... sounds like they want the appraisers to ask them for the right price

Also wanted to add that we were quoted about $10k for a 1.02c G SI1 HOF and $7500k for an .80c H SI1 stone.

Have fun!

Interesting Mara:

I know this is a little off topic, but back in December I was qouted $10K on a 1 carat F/vs2 Eightstar.

I wasn't really aware that HOF markup was just as high as 8-star in some cases. I have seen many branded stones, but HOF is one that I haven't seen.

I wonder what RockDoc, David Atlas, Rich Sherwood, or Garry Holloway would have to add on their opinions on the 2 brands similiarities and differences.

Interesting you have seen them and liked the HOF better.
