Pricess Cut Setting

So I''m getting a princess cut setting (single claw prongs with pave) from Leon Mege.

One of the questions asked was how I wanted the heigth of the ''setting'' - and it was suggested to me to be set as low as possible practical reasons (read: snagging).

My question is this - is there really any other way to go with such a set up?

Anyone else with a custom set princess, how did you have it set? High, low, somewhere in the middle. I''m confused.

Not sure if any of the diamond''s spec''s are relevant, just thought maybe the height and/or something else might be though. So here they are:

Hi, first of all I have to say...you Lucky Duck!!!!! A beautiful princess and a Leon!!!!!

Next, this is something Im looking into myself for my princess. I believe it would be a relationship between the depth of your diamond (as a starting point ...this has to govern the minimum height), the particulars of your design & your own preference. Perhaps Leon could give you a range that is possible, because to some extent there will be room for going up or down!!!!!

My diamond is set fairly low at the moment, and my next design will have it more upswept, but not too high either. I wish we could road test different designs and live with them for awhile to see if they work as well as looking good! At the moment my low set ring doesnt snag but lacks a bit of elegance. However, you dont want it to look great but be impractical.

Unfortunately, I can't be of much help, right now. I just put my ring in the deposit box today as I'm leaving on vaca. I have no idea on the exact height. If I had to guess, maybe 8-9mm high.

I didn't specify anything to Leon, I pretty much just handed it over. It turned out great though!

I also have a custom princess ring, but not by Leon (WF did mine). I intentionally asked it to be set as low as possible, because I work in the medical field and didn''t want to have to take it off when I have gloves on. I also am a bit of a klutz, and the higher a diamond sticks out of a ring, the riskier it is.
