Can anyone please give me advise on the following purchase which I'm intending to get next week:-

Round B
F (VVS1)
6.91x6.97x4.22
Table W: 63%
Crown Height: 12.5%
Pav D: 45%
Cul: Pointed
Girdle: Med 3.5% Faceted
Pro: VG
FG: VG
HRD Cert
Price: US$8,300

Being very new to this, I would be grateful for any advice or input.

Thanks

Brandon

Hi Brandon10,

The price doesn't sound bad. This stone is far from ideal cut though. It has rather deep pavilion and large table.

Just wonder whether you had a chance to see the stone and compare it to other better cut ones.

Unless this high clarity is important for you, you can get much better looking diamond for less money if you'd go down to VS or eye-clean SI1.

I agree with Leonid. A 63% table and a 45% pavilion is not a good place to start. Keep hunting brandon. You may want to read my chapters on cut to help narrow down your search for a beautiful rock. www.goodoldgold.com/cut.htm is the direct link to those chapters.

Peace,
Rhino
