So my fiancee had mentioned that she wanted me to buy her "something sexy" to wear on the honeymoon. I know I can visit victoriasecret''s website and what not but I need info on what girls are comfortable in because I don''t want to buy my future wife something and her be like umm do you realize this is uncomfortable? It''s kind of hard to discuss this because it''s one of those topics I can''t talk with my mom or her mom''s about...and whenever I talk to her bridesmaids about it they just get red and giggle. They''re all college age girls and somehow find it amusing that I''m worried about this. So if you ladies can give me any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it!

It''s very sweet of you to worry about her comfort ... different things are comfie to different people though ... what are her "day clothes" like? Preppy? Cotton? Silky? Sparkly? That''ll tell you a lot about her style.

Babydolls (a kind of dress-like top w/ matching panties) are usually comfie/sexy

A Cami (Camisole) & Panty set in cotton w/ lace trim is a more casual option good for preppy chicks

A shortie nightgown made of solid color real silk (maybe red? white? black?)

THINGS TO AVOID: Corset tops, Polyester, See-through mesh, Thongs, Flannel HA!!!

Don''t worry *TOO MUCH* about the comfort factor --- if it''s for the Honeymoon -- I doubt it''ll be on very long

the whole not being on very long or much was kind of calming my nerves...I looked at some stuff on victoria secret and figure I might just go with one of those "babydoll" things you were refering to...i always assumed that kind of stuff was insanely expensive but once i started looking it''s not too bad lol

Babydoll nightgowns from Victoria''s Secret are always very comfy and look sexy, too. They are silk, and are easy to find sizes in because they go from XS to LG, so you can''t go wrong there! Plus you can adjust the straps and stuff, so it''s fits right. Corsets are really sexy... but not comfy, and it''s frustrating to get in and out of them, so I agree with Deco about NOT buying that. But also, I think it''s important that you like it, too. She wouldn''t have asked you to get her something sexy if she didn''t want you to pick out something YOU thought was sexy, you know? But it''s very nice of you to consider her comfort! IF you want something a little more daring, try Fredrick''s of Hollywood, they have some nice stuff, too, believe it or not.

Figleaves.com has nice chemises and babydolls. I usually find that their quality is a lot nicer than the VS stuff. I''ve ordered from them several times and nevver had any problems.

I will definitely have to check the websites out later when I get back to my apartment. Right now I''m at work...would look kind of strange for a 21 year old guy to be looking a lingerie sites at work...don''t you think? haha

This one might work for a Prep.

This Vera Wang is kinda Bridal looking ... & every bride loves Vera. Yet it's Polyester -- hmmm.

I think this one is super chic but also poly ... so maybe I'm wrong about polys??? (I prefer silk or cotton but ...???)

These panties from Figleaves are so cute ... they say "The Mrs." across the rump!!! Maybe a "day of" present??? HEE!

So only like 47 days until the wedding :) I''m pretty excited about it....one of the funny things regarding this kind of clothing was that the pastor who is marrying us is really close friends with us and got married about a year and a half ago. His wife made the comment to my fiancee that she received like 12 things of lingerie from people from the church...kind of funny...anyway...the pastor was like WHAT!?!? ANYMORE IT''S FLANEL PANTS AND ONE OF MY T-SHIRTS THAT YOU WEAR TO BED!! haha...so i''m assuming after awhile it will probably slowly fade to that kind of thing but i guess if it were everytime it wouldn''t be special right?

I echo the warnings about thongs and corsets -- I''ve never had a corset but I would guess that it would be A) uncomfortable, and B) hard to find the right size. And thongs and G-strings? They may not bother some people but I personally cannot tolerate them...like wearing a permanent wedgie.

Babydoll nighties are the perfect recommendation. Nice job, ladies!

Ladies, to each their own, but speak for yourselves! I dread the long days between loads of laundry when all my thongs are not clean and I have to break into my panty selection.

Maybe the OP should tell his fiancee he''s worried about her hating it and being uncomfortable and feeling icky, and he wants her to feel beautiful and sexy (and definitely in the mood!) and could she give him an idea of the stuff she''d like.

She would be fine even if I bought her a thong one because I knwo she wears them whenever she wears a dress or something and even commented that I should buy her garter set that was Cubs and also came with a Cubs thong..so she wouldn''t mind...she''s pretty easy to please unless it''s food then she''s very picky

I would guess that because she asked you to pick it out, she wants you to get what you find sexy. She''ll probably have some things of her own that are her style, but she wants something that excites you. I wouldn''t worry about comfort at all. Ok, maybe don''t get some bondage outfit, but if you find corsets and fishnets hot, buy her a corset and fishnets. Corsets aren''t that uncomfortable (ok, I wouldn''t wear one to work, but on a special evening, they''re fine), and like others have said, she won''t be wearing it long.

I don''t know her, so I can''t say for sure, but I''d be a little disappointed if you just got me a cute shorty nightgown. She''ll probably get some of those at her shower or from friends, and I think she''s looking for extra-special.

I agree that she probably wants you to pick out something YOU think is sexy, but I think VS has in-store wishlists... she could go try some stuff on and put down her wishes... but I think you can''t go wrong with a babydoll. It''s very comfy and feminine. A great intro to lingerie.

And I agree about the "no polyester" thing... It can create static! NOT pleasant!

awww how sweet!!

I wonder, how about buying a couple different styles, that way she can have a couple to chose from, and then she will also have stuff for the 2nd and 3rd nights too....lol

A babydoll is definately probably the most comfortable, sexy looking piece, but I think Corsets are sexy and aren''t that uncomfortable, but like others have said, it is such a matter of comfort.

You can always get a nice long silky gown that''s kinda ''classic''.

If you don''t mind my asking, is this the first time you will be seeing her like that? That might influence her comfort level some as well.... ( I know it did for me!)

yea it''s the first time we''ll have been together. In April it will be our 6 year dating anniversary and so it''s been a joke that it''s been a long wait for both of us. But oh well...it''ll be totally worth it. The worst part about this whole marriage thing (if there really is one) is that we have to start saying we''ve been married for a year and we have to get rid of those 6 years....At first anyway it''ll be like we''ve been married for a year but together for 7...but once we hit like 30 years i''ll just be like yea we''ve been together forever.

She''s pretty much the most amazing person in the wolrd...and I hope that your fiance''s would say the same about you.

I want the wedding night to be special and then for our honeymoon to be the most amazing time for the both of us. It gets kind of annoying when everyone who knows we''ve waited for marriage is like "ohhhh well i know what you''ll be doing all of your honeymoon"...i mean heck ya i''m going to enjoy it but I also don''t plan on just laying around our resort having sex 24/7 I want to go out and enjoy ourselves too. Yes ladies that''s come from a guy lol....

I *thought* I''d remembered that this was the case from earlier posts ... which is why my suggestions are along the "pretty, sweet, sexy" lines rather than the "bold/dramatic/shocking/sexy".

You have plenty of time to "spice" things up in the future! No shame in starting simple & classic & comfie yet gorgeous!

She''ll probably be a bit nervous about wearing anything TOO TOO TOO revealing or on the "sleazy" side ... at least at first
3.gif

You know her & her daily wardrobe best of anyone here -- you''ll probably get a sense of what you & she would both like as you search more online or in stores. Don''t worry about "messing up" or put too much pressure on yourself. You''re a GUY! You''re not a lingere expert & nobody expects you to be a stylist or anything!

I''d guess ANYTHING you pick out - she''ll be thrilled to wear (especially for you, on your much anticipated honeymoon!)

I think she wants you to buy it because she wants something that you think is sexy. Also since you picked it out, you will probably be anticipating about seeing her wearing it. That will make you go wild, which is another reason why she wants you to pick it out.

I don''t know about your fiance''s style, but I always feel the sexist in boy shorts/hip huggers/Brazilian panty. The panty makes the butt looks perkier and that''s really hot. You can get a lace one like this or like this. Babydolls are always good. They are comfy.

I think it''s sweet that you are taking your time to pick out something. I''ve asked DH numerous times to surprise me with lingerie, but he still hasn''t done it (sigh).

I''d second the boy sorts and a cute knit top for a first time together.

My personal choice would be a shortie chemise made of silk charmeuse, maybe one of these:

http://www.feelingusa.com/products.cfm?cat=55&grp=44

Her build will influence what''s comfortable to her. If she''s "well endowed." she''ll appreciate a top that has some shaping at the bustline, or elastic below the bust.

It really is to each her own. If she tells you to pick something out then she''s giving you the reigns. :) Lucky man you are.

LOL. My FI and I have completely opposite lingerie tastes. I''m into the sweet sensual silky and he likes lace see-thru pornographic. I''m Victoria and he''s Frederick''s. I''m nude art and he''s playboy. I like chemises and he likes thong teddies. Apparantly, the more uncomfortable and unsexy I find the item the more he likes it! I honestly feel more naked in the things he likes than being actually naked!

I definitely agree with the others that she wants you to find something that you think is sexy. She''s afraid to pick something you won''t like, especially given the circumstances. From a comfort point of view, all of those stretch lace babydolls from VS are really comfortable. Ok, so they''re a little sheer, but are made from a stretch material that is very flattering to the body. IMHO, I think what she might mean by "comfortable", is something she''ll look good in. I still can''t figure out what woman over a size 2 looks good in thigh-highs

I have to agree with Deco! I can remember the first time I ever put on something for DH (we were still dating) and I had a hard time coming out of the bathroom because I felt silly/embarrased/nervous... everything! I nice silk baby doll would be perfect. I second whoever said getting a couple things... maybe they could get a tad more racey as the days go by!

Firstbase - I know what you mean about feeling like you will "throw away" all the time you have spent together once you get married! People will ask how long we have been married (1.5 years) and then make comments about how new our love is or something equally crappy. When we celebrate our 2nd wedding anni this year, it will also mark 10 years of knowing each other and 7 years of being together (5 dating, 2 married) and I think that is just as special. As long as you two know, thats all that counts... and your friends and family will always know too!

ETA: I forgot to mention I like Frederick's of Hollywood too. I think they are about the same quality as VS, but can be cheaper sometimes!

I am not a fan of victoria secret.
They make thing for girls that are... how do I say it, straight up and down.

I bought some stuff from there and hated it. I don't have a big chest (probably average 34C) and the tops never fit right , they make them too small. I am normally a size 4/medium/small in clothes.

But the duration is a factor, it won't be on long. I wouldn't want my future husband to pick something conversative, go all out!!!
Also I wanted to add that if she giving you permission, she wants something you're going to like.
My b/f is very conversative, I'm not, I told him what he bought me wasn't that exciting, I guess that's why he hasn't bought anything since. I laughed too when he bought me size 6 shoes from frederick of hollywood.

HI:

I hope someone added "garters/garter belts" to the undesirable list.

This thread is cute as it reminds me of my DH and the beautiful outfit he bought me for our honeymoon--a pale pink silk cami and tap panty. It was costly and needed to be dry cleaned or hand washed and pressed. Oh so beautiful but was high maintenence. There are so many easy care, cute things available these days and the baby dolls sound like a good bet.

cheers--Sharon

One HUGE bit of advice that I can think to add to what''s been said already: sizing for lingerie is probably the worst of all women''s clothing. Almost all novelty stuff runs really really small. Sure, bra sizes can sometimes be pretty standard, but after that, forget it. I just bought some "Large" boyshorts at Meijer (it''s like a Walmart). I''m typically a 6-8 dress size, and the Large boyshorts are almost too small for me. Same at victoria''s secret. Their bras fit me perfectly in the expected size, but their panties and clothing can run really really small.
38.gif
Any of you ladies have the same problem? I''m definitely blessed with childbearing hips and a butt to match - don''t know how "average" I am. All I know is that I wrote a signed thank-you note to God when Gap came out with their Curvy Fit jeans.

I''m a little late here...This is such a cute thread. It''s so thoughtful of you to be concerned of what she may want rather than what you want! I can only imagine what DH would pick (after 12 yrs. of marriage)
31.gif
. I second the idea of a chemise. Not too sheer. Something she''ll be comfortable lounging around in too...Something feminine. VS has tons of items that would fit your need.
