It''s here! 1.73ct Afghan Tourmaline 7.2mm ACS Link

Barry said it was really hard to photograph. And I''m far from experienced in photographing gemstones. This is only my second one! But I did a quick try and here are the results.

It''s more green and less blue than I expected after seeing his picture. But blue comes out a lot in some lighting. It''s weird. I''m not very good and knowing what lighting around my house to use. The outdoor pics are taken just before the sun got too low - so no really bright sun as it was overcast anyways. So here we go:

That''s all I have for now. The pics really don''t do it justice. Barry said this is a stone that people will notice across the room. He''s RIGHT! It is so sparkly! The dark spots that appear in the photos are just not there. It''s really pretty impressive. At least in my opinion. I just wish I could get a picture that shows the true stone for you all. All setting ideas are welcome! :) Ha ha.

Hoofbeats, what a gorgeous stone! It might be your first BB stone but I doubt it will be your last

It is absolutely beautiful, I love all the shadings of blue/green in various lights and it is a sparkle bomb - great pick - Enjoy!!!

I like the pictures of the tourmaline in its holder outdoors where I can really see the cut and sparkle. The problem with photographing gemstones in the case is that it never captures the true colour. The plastic/glass covers somehow distort the light.

nice job on the photos... such a pretty stone! any setting ideas?

It''s beautiful!!! I love that color, minty blue green and boy does it sparkle. I adore it. I can''t wait to see it set.

Well isn''t that a little looker of a stone? I saw that posted and was curious how it would look in person. Nice job on the photos, it looks to be a very subtle stone with a lot of personality!

Wow, that''s beautiful!

Wow...that is one beautiful stone, HB!
I also liked the pics of it outside in the holder...very sparkly, and beautiful color!
On to the setting...

Hmm...it''s not really what I thought it would look like. Either way it''s a typical Barry stone--GORGEOUS!!!

Looks really pretty! I love how easily you can see all the facets!

Gorgeous!!!

Ooh, very pretty. I like it.

Setting - something with four prongs to let the light in, and white metal to keep it minty cool. Maybe a split shank covered with melee?

pretty!
