All,

With the help of the good folks here on PriceScope, I've elected to go with the following diamond:
http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-...-h-color-si2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-157326
Carat weight:1.02
Certificate:GIA
Color:H
Shape: Round
Clarity: SI2
Cut: Excellent
Depth %:62.00
Table %:56.00
Crown ∠: 34.5
Pavilion ∠: 41.0
Symmetry:Excellent
Polish:Excellent
Fluorescence:None
Girdle: Medium-Slightly Thick
Culet:NN
L/W/D (mm): 6.46*6.47*4.01
(discussed at https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/advice-on-three-ja-1ct-rounds.188173/)

My fiance-to-be wears a ~5.5, and her fingers are not particularly long. I'm looking at these two settings:

http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/engage...round-shaped-diamond-engagement-ring-item-928
- 18K White Gold 0.30ct common prong round shaped
- Width: 1.9mm
- # of Diamond: 20
- Total carat (min): 0.30
- Average color: G-H
- Average clarity: VS2-SI1

http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/engage...ound-shaped-diamond-engagement-ring-item-9018
- 18K White Gold 0.54ct common prong round shaped
- Width: 2.2mm
- # of Diamond: 18
- Total carat (min): 0.54
- Average color: G-H
- Average clarity: VS2-SI1

My questions are..
- Given the size of the diamond, should I go with the 1.9mm band to make the diamond look bigger?
- Will the 2.2mm width band with the larger rocks make the diamond look noticably smaller?
- Does it really make a difference given the smaller size of my gf's hands?
- Does an engagement/wedding ring combo of 3.8mm vs 4.4mm look make a difference?

My girlfriend already has expressed that she loves the sparkles and the diamonds around the band, so I figure I will get her an eternity wedding band with a matching width to the engagement ring.

Appreciate peoples thoughts on this...need to decide within the next day which way to go. Feel free to also let me know if I am making a big deal out of nothing and should just go for whichever  ...which in this case is the wider diamonds, as more sparkles = happier fiance.

PriceScope Rocks! Thanks for the help!

I like the thinner band.

Of her fingers are small and not particularly long I say the thinner band.

You're talking about .3 mm. If you put the two bands side by side, you will be able to tell a difference. If you don't see them together, it's going to be hard to tell the width. Just look at 2mm on a ruler.

Pick the setting you prefer. Neither one is particularly wide.

Not an expert......I like the larger side stones but two less and a little more money. However, I can't see the matching band on their web page. I like the bands to be exactly the same width. Your centre stone is lovely size so I would go with more bling.

I have actually picked out the same ring. I just like your girlfriend am a ring size 5.5, and personally after trying many on I liked the thinner band on my short, petite fingers. I am sure she will love either one, but personally I prefer the .30 common prong and will be ordering it.

Ah, no kidding. Do you happen to have a picture of the ring on your finger?

There is so little difference between the two - choose whichever you like. As an example, my ering band is 1.8mm and my wedding band (with the marquis diamonds) is 2mm. My rings are a size 5.5.

Yep, you can't really tell the difference between the two. I guess the question then is whether there is a noticeable "sparkle" difference between the 1.9mm and the 2.2mm rings due to *slightly* bigger side stones...

anywhos, thanks for the link to your rings!

yes, bigger ones are sparklier.

Thanks for all the help and comments! I've opted to go with the smaller 1.9mm 0.30ct ring. Its ordered, and my wire transfer will be pending in the next couple of days. Will be sure to post up pictures once I receive the ring!
