Pre-purchase advice

I have to say I thought I was doing everything I could to inform myself before making a purchase... then I found PS and realized I have barely scratched the surface. So having read over a good number of articles and threads here, I''ve tentatively identified a stone. Would be curious to hear your thoughts.

What is the stone use for?

The proportion is a BIC which is cut more for bright light return but sacrifice fire for it.

I realize it falls slightly outside of TIC. But I'll be damned if I could find a quality TIC stone, H/VS2 or better, in a price range I could afford (this one is from JA for under $1,200, which seems like a steal at that price). This one seemed like it was very close to TIC, and still seems to have decent fire.

Looked at the virtual loupe and it seems nice; requested IS images too. I don't have to have a TIC. I'm happy with Brilliant or Fiery; the crown angle is just short of being within TIC, so I don't see it as being too unbalanced towards brilliance. It seems like it will still have great fire. Even so, BIC and FIC look beautiful in different ways, and I'd be happy with either. I just want to make sure I'm not ending up with something dull or badly proportioned.

Target range is about $1,600 set in 18k white, H/VS2 or better, >=.5ct. I realize it's a smallish budget to work with, but hey... student loans don't pay themselves.

This seemed like a very nice stone that fits in that budget.

The crown angle isn''t actually all that shallow in the scheme of things, it could be a great looking diamond, lets see what the IS image shows.

The hearts are imperfect so if having a '' true'' h&a diamond matters to you then keep looking but otherwise it could be a great looking diamond, it just depends on your priorities.

This one looks good (with the exception of the Hearts like Lorelei said). If the H&A doesnt bother you then it may be a good choice.
What is the price on this one? Brian Gavin has a .50 H/Vs2 for $1312 (beautiful of course).
