Potentially replacing Oval Head--ideas needed!

I need some ideas... I've had my e-ring for over 13 years now. I wear it day and night, showering, everything. Never had an issue. Twice in the past several months, a prong has gotten loose and had to be fixed. Local jeweler suggested a new head with six prongs. Are six prongs necessary? Or is this just normal wear and tear on a ring that gets worn so much? The head is platinum. I started a Sholdt thread, but my dh is really against an east-west setting of the oval. I want him to at least *like* whatever setting I eventually pick out (or at the very least not hate, hah)..but I was thinking of replacing the head of the current setting and maybe doing a completely new setting for the 15-year anniversary. I will attach pics in the next post. My current setting is very low. I was thinking of getting an new head that sits up just a bit higher--so that the culet is visible, perhaps? I don't know where to look for new heads that would be suitable for my setting. I assume I need a peg, but I will let the pros tell me! I am not against six prongs, but I want a head that will showcase my diamond the best. I wouldn't say I'm "hard" on my rings--I do take them off for manual labor and working with any chemicals. I'd say 13 years without any issue is a pretty good track record. :) The oval is barely over a carat, SI1, F color. I am hoping for a semi-bezel 3/4 eternity ring for Christmas this year... alternating 5pt rounds and a step-cut, I'm thinking.

Anyway, I would appreciate any insight into replacing the head--and where to look for ideas! :) Pics to follow.

You can check at www.stuller.com under findings. They have some 4 and some 6 prongs.

Thanks for these links! I searched the Stuller website, and they do have something like that available for rounds. I will be heading up to my jeweler in the next couple of weeks to talk about options. The first link is so pretty!

This one looks promising... I have a hard time resisting the surprise diamonds. :) http://www.stuller.com/products/28079/?groupId=104489

Stuller is so inconsistent with the pictures they show. Some items are really showcased from all angles, and others are left up to the consumer to fill in the blanks.

I once had my oval in a head very much like yours and my jeweler talked me into a 6 prong after the 3rd time of knocking it loose in almost as many months (I'm rough on jewelry  ) I *hated* the 6 prong head, it made my oval, which is only about .45 carats, look so much more like a marquise. There's nothing wrong with a marquise, but I already had one of those and wanted my oval to look like an oval! So my advice is to choose something other than the 6 prong with the two prongs at either end and the 4 on the side because it really can change the look of the stone a lot and not always in a pleasing manner.
