I'm sure my untrained eyes are missing something in the numbers themselves.

http://www.winkjones.com/specials/diamonds.php

Stone is listed on Winfield's, no pictures, stock # 4452 (0.82 ct round). I know J-SI1 isn't top-notch, but other stones in this range seem to be listing 20% more in some cases.

not a lot of comps around but the price seems about right.
Wink is a good guy if its what your looking for its worth looking into.
he can take IS images for you and maybe he has figured out the hearts by now lol

LOL! Hearts do give me fits to photograph well, but I am getting better. Starting to get better at the ASET pictures too.

AGS is trying to get enough attendants to do a cutting evaluation class in February, I hope they do as I am all signed up and ready to go if they do. Imagine, sitting at the feet of Pete Yantzer, Jim Caudill and others as they teach you how to cut grade diamonds with hands on instruction instead of just sitting in a class room taking notes. I don''t have any problems grading a top grade stone, it is or it isn''t, but the AGS cut grade system is VERY complex and I am wanting to pick up the fine points of determining between the other grades such as 2 3 and 4.

Also Jim is their master "gadgeteer" so I hope to get some one on one photo taking wisdom from him. That still wont give me the time needed to do all the work you guys want on every stone that comes in the door. But at least I will be able to do it better whenever a photo is needed.

Well, you could as well ask ''why are the other so expensive''...

Second what Strm says about the weight range.

As for the H&A part, this stone comes from a lofty neighbourhood (Wink''s list!) and I would not hesitate to keep it against high expectations. That''s what a good return policy is for

Unlike many other quality features, you can always reality-check promises relating to H&A and IS images because those viewers are might cheap, available to buyers and not that hard to handle - many tried that and there is a good amount of feedback on the forum about the exercise. Appraisal is yet another route for the same.

J or no J, below 1 ct I wouldn''t worry much that the stone may look tinted. Most likely not. Unless you have a couple of Ds (or CZ) lying around. And even then... even if you do find some visible difference - chances are it may not appear any more than minor to you, as it does to many. It isn''t striking enough for a more clear cut case than that. Just IMO.

Best of luck!

I started lurking here with some fairly lofty ideas about what color and clarity range I was willing to go to. Since looking and learning the value of cut, I''ve revised down significantly. And, my color recognition for off-white is so bad as it is, I don''t anticipate any problems with an I-J stone. As long as it''s a good, eye-clean SI1

If you''re still around, Wink...do you drop ship, or would it be possible for you/your staff to take a look at a stone for me? Is it possible for you to ship to an appraiser prior to me purchasing a stone?

Thanks much, and I apologize in advance if this is all covered somewhere

Wink dont drop ship that diamond is in his safe.
Drop him an email or give him a call would be your best bet.
If you wanted to you could set up a time to talk with him when he will have the diamond out and talk to you about it on the phone.
Shipping to an appraiser wont be a problem either.

Storm, thank you for stating my position so clearly! Yes, that stone is here.

Stones Throw, I took it out this morning, took pictures of it and posted the pictures of it in the gallery for you and yes, if you call I will gladly discuss it with you. I think for this conversation to stay appropriate to the rules of this forum that we should take any further discussion of the diamond to email and telephone.

Valaria, thank you also for the kind words, it is always appreciated!

That is a gorgeous stone Wink! When we are ready to buy I wouldn't mind something similiar. My fiance really liked looking at the hearts and arrows collection at whiteflash. Do you feel it measures up with the same quality? Is the stone eye clean?
