BTW HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY CROOKEDROCK

Happy Anniversary CrookedRock! (Thanks Golden for the heads-up!)

So many great dresses have been posted, one of my favorite things about PS is how helpful people are when it comes to wardrobe remedies!
36.gif
I can''t wait to see which possible "proposal dress" crookedrock will choose, and how the whole story goes.

Sna, its great that you have apologized but I've just gotta say, it'd be beneficial to not take things so literally and give others a lil more credit.

Do you really think a lady with such good taste in an ering would be looking forward to getting engaged at a spring break-like environment? imho, you knew this wasn't true but were being a lil silly..
And as for your passion about women's fashion and others's suggestions - well...interesting!
2.gif
lol. I agree with others, a blanket statement about male fashion designers isn't really true. For example, i think a Diane Von Furstenberg dress would be perfect for CR's request.

CR - I think you have been given some great suggestions -I am not in the states so not too familiar with your options, but I would think a simple cotton dress, maybe a wrap style (DVF) would be nice, in nautical colours such as white dress with a blue shawl or cardigan for when it gets chilly? I dunno, maybe the nautical theme seems cheesy, but I think it would be cute.
the proposal idea sounds totally fantastic, can't wait to hear how it goes

alright already! He was kidding! He admitted it was a joke. I got it the first time. I didn't need sna to
admit it was a joke; why do you?

I think we should be happy to get a man's perspective on these things. Stop trying to run sna away.
You post on a public forum - you take what you get.

the booze cruise was thrown out in the poster's description- sna only high lighted what cr wrote.
He's only trying to be helpful. yeeesh

Trying to "run Sna off??"" Wha?
I really think you've read way too much into it and taken what i wrote the wrong way. But, at the request of Ali I'm gonna leave it at that.

peace

When is this trip?

Ladies, and Sna! Thank you all so much for all your help! You have given me some amazing things to look at! I am off to the mall tomorrow to check everything out! I will be sure to post what I end up with!

It just dawned on me to look at the weather and it seems like it will be colder than I pictured in my head!! May have to go the pants route, but I will let you know what I find.
I really appreciate all the help, and some of these are dreses I may just buy bc I love!!

And my PS Anniversary!!! I can''t believe it! Thanks! Here''s to another wonderful PS year!

Do you have a thigh length cashmere sweater you can wear over the dress is it is cold? that will still keep it on the dressy side

Golden, you have amazing taste! Unfortunately we don''t have a Bergdorf here, I wish we did!
Living in Florida, I don''t really stock up on the cashmere. I will have to see what I find today so that I can still order online stuff before we leave. The trip is Memorial Day Weekend, so I have a lil bit of time but not much!

You think the White pants look with a pretty top would fit the bill for this??

I hate to say it, but the weather is the first thing I thought of when I saw all the adorable (short, strapless) dresses everyone is posting. I lived on the Cape for a couple years, and trust me, it will probably be cold out there in May especially in the evening. So even though it's not nearly as romantic, I'd bring some WARM clothes-nice pants, definitely a sweater or jacket for the sail. You don't want your romantic moonlight sail ruined by shivering the entire time! Save the cute little dress for going out to dinner after the proposal!

Ok... so I went to the mall yesterday, and I have to say that I really hate the mall, really really hate it!
But I did find 2 things...
One is a dress that is so perfectly me and nautical, I had to have it... I found it a Zara. I am going to take it to the alterations lady tomorrow bc it needs to be taken in, but it will be perfect if I can deal with the temp up there. I do have a really cute Theory cropped white jacket that will go great with it too. Either that or a pashmina...
ETA~ The dress is really wrinkled, but you get the pic...

Then I bought this shirt, that I thought would be a great alternative to the dress depending on the weather. I would wear it with white pants...

they are perfect, I really like the top, where is it from?
You will have to take pictures of the final product! BTW, I love the plantation shutters.

Thanks golden... I really love many of the dresses posted and I may order some just to have, but I am leaning towards the pants right now beacuse or the weather. I got the top at Bebe, and I love it bc it''s kinda sexy yet a lil flowy... It looks great on! I will be sure to post pics of the cruise when we get back so that you can see what I chose!
Thank you again for all of your help!

Hi Crooked Rock, I am freezing in Nantucket at the moment! Both your outfits are gorgeous/perfect and def. bring the jacket/pashmina/etc. - even on warm days it still cools off quickly at the end. The Endeavor is a beauty - hope this IS the proposal so we can see that amazing ring on your hand

(where are going for dinner after?) Have a great vacation!

AHHH! Do you live there? What is the weather going to be like during the day? Is it still pants weather?

We were debating about dinner... Which is your favorite? I have been to Pearl and loved it! The Boarding House is an option, as well as 21 Federal, and Seasons... Let me know what you think, or if there are any others I am missing!

How about a good breakfast spot? I love bloody marys! LOL

We live here PT - right now the weather is bleh - 45 degrees but 36 with the wind chill! I am in polar fleece. By the end of the month it should be much nicer but can still be very cool - I would guess 70s during the day but not too much warmer usually. (but you can get beautiful warm days with the cooler eves) - I would say pack more like spring vs. summer. I love the Pearl, too
18.gif
and the Boarding House is a fave. LoLa 41 (on S. Beach Street) is supposed to be very good; we also like the Ships Inn and Fifty Six Union. For Sunday brunch, take a look at the Brant Point Grill at the White Elephant and also Toppers at the Wauwinet does a big brunch (Toppers has a water taxi for dinner and probably brunch too - kind of a hike by car) -- both will have Bloody Marys! Black Eyed Susan''s is very pop. at breakfast but is a BYOB. Back to dinner, Company of the Cauldron is also lovely but you have to check the menus as it is one prix fixe menu per evening. (21 Federal and American Seasons are also very good, I was just throwing out some other names . . . it''s kind of hard to go wrong!
1.gif
) Where are you staying?

Thanks for all the recomendations! You confirmed what I was wondering about! We are staying at the Union Inn, I wanted to try something different bc I have stayed at the White Elephant before and I like to switch it up!
Hopefully you guys get some warmer weather by the time we get there, or maybe it will follow me up from Florida bc it is starting to really feel like summer here!

LOVE the Union Inn... What weekend are you coming? Memorial Dy for Figawi? I''m missing it this year--so bummed--my office is moving that weekend and I have to work all weekend. blah.

CR, what a beautiful spot - def. try 56 Union if you have not already, since it will be right around the corner from you and has a great cozy bar! I hope you have fab warm weather and a wonderfully romantic trip, weather permitting we are heading home tomorrow and not back til early June when kids get out of school. I will be thinking of you Memorial Day weekend!

What is Figwa? We just planned it bc it was my birthday which is during Memorial Day weekend. (the 24th)

56 Union looks great. What is the atmosphere like?? I want it to be really nice and kinda romantic...

http://www.figawi.com/page/race

Figawi is a huge sailboat race. Memorail Day weekend is one of the best of the summer. The island is packed, and all the bars are open during the day... Its funny... everyone isn there has the name of their sailboat embroidered onto their polo shirts.

Hi CR - origins of Figawi below (I pasted it from somewhere since I''m a lousy explainer) - for the post-cruise dinner (esp. if that is Proposal night!) I would personally pick the Boarding House, I love the intimacy of that ''cavey'' atmosphere and the food. I was more thinking try 56 Union while you were here since it''s so close to the Inn - it is lovely inside but maybe not quite as romantic as the Boarding House? (But you know what, if you are newly engaged and sporting that incredible stone (I can''t wait to see your Leon design) you are going to set any restaurant aglow!!!)

The Figawi or Figawi Race Weekend is an annual sailing race from Hyannis, MA to Nantucket on the Memorial Day weekend. It is a relatively prominent race and attracts boats from all around New England, not just Cape Cod. While it is a race, its primary aim is to be a fun event... Figawi is now recognized as a sort of Spring Break for the well-heeled 30+ crowd. It is also an important race that kicks off the racing season each summer. . .
The name "Figawi" is said to to originate from the race''s tendency to be foggy. The New England sailor''s pronunciation of "Where the @#$% are we?" during a foggy passage became lore and was shortened to the more socially acceptable "Figawi".

OMG! Now I am even more excited! If the BF wasn't on a plane on his way to NYC (to get my Leon
31.gif
) I would be calling him and screaming about how excited this makes me. We love this sort of stuff as we are big boaters down here in Florida! I will have to remember to pack our shirts with our boats name on them! Oh and the bf is obsessed with sailboats and wants one so badly and I keep telling him no... LOL It takes to long to get to the Bahamas!
I am so excited I can't even explain! Thanks for the heads up! I will be taking a million pics, so check back after that weekend!
