Possible to replace prong set stone with bezel in halo?

I have a prong set stone in my halo and I would like to replace it with a diamond in a bezel. Is this possible in theory? The hole that the centre stone sits in is round even though the halo is octagonal. I wanted a bezel originally but the centre stone didn't have the right shaped girdle to make a bezel possible.
