I haven't been able to wear my set at all since the birth of my daughter (and my weight is the same as pre-pregnancy.) Resizing both rings is extremely expensive because they are full eternities. Considering a reset. What would you do with my stone? Open to hearing any and all ideas!

I think your set is very pretty...How much is "very expensive" to have them turned into mostly eternity with a spacer
bar because I cant image that a new set would be cheaper. Are you tired of your set? Are you looking for something
different?

This is why we always advice spacer bars.

I really like your current set! Do you have a budget for a reset? What kind of look are you going for...classic? Antique? Halo? I suggest you head out to some jewelry stores and try a bunch of rings on to help narrow it down a bit. As I was looking for a reset, I found out that certain styles I liked on-line, I didn't like on my finger. So, it was helpful to do a bunch of shopping before picking a setting.

It is around $800 to resize both which just seems like a ton of money to spend to get the exact same rings back. I really dislike the look of a sizing band which is why I avoided it the first time around. I am kind of looking for a change without changing my stone. I'm kind of tired of the pave look and feel like it doesn't sparkle as much as it could. Might consider a halo with a plain shank or a shared prong setting. Maybe even a three stone. I think I do need to try things on. Just wondering what others thought might look nice with my cushion.

Who on earth is quoting these prices to you? Seriously?

If we end up resetting it, probably around $2,000. The original jeweler (here in Boston) gave the quote. He said it's because they basically have to take the rings apart to resize them.

It is 1.07 carats and very square, from Mark at ERD. My finger size is now around a 5 1/2.

Pear sides stones might be pretty...

I kind of like this one. I would want it to sit lower (have a different gallery). Would also need small claw prongs. You would
have to go custom to get those changes. It's really different.

I also like the look of a simple solitaire with a nice basket/gallery. Pair it with a shared prong wedding band from ID Jewelry.
This would leave you with about $1300 for a nice shared band. I would get the biggest 9 or 11 stone you could get for the money.

Other nice solitares

For a halo...I would talk to David Klass and see how much it would be. Hard to get a nice one for $2k but maybe one with
a plain shank.

I would have any new setting done with claw prongs.

If you are tired of your set, then why not reset it. If you are considering having more children, then I would definitely go with something with a plain shank since you dislike the sizing bar. My fingers grew a quarter of a size with each child. It's taken almost two years to come down just a quarter of a size. Anyway, I love the 3 stone with pears and I love a halo with a plain shank.

Thanks for the replies. I really appreciate all the ideas for a new setting. We are undecided about more kids but are leaving the door open for the future. So, I think I will stick with something with a plain shank (or back) so I don't have to worry about resizing in the future if it's needed.
