Can you do the stones on a penny and stones on a quarter test, to see which metal they look best with? They are very pretty stones and I would like to know more about the gorgeous purple sapphire too .

Thanks for your input, Sibsgirl, but though I like the spinels in yellow gold, I am certainly not looking to deepen the sapphire. I adore lavender with red, and I already have a ring where the lavender darkened to a darker purple. I'm hoping this sapphire will stay lighter toned with the setting that I want.

About the sapphire, it used to be part of a pair. Yvonne sold one of the pair to another customer, and I sent a message asking about the other stone of the pair. It's 7x5 and my favorite tone of lavender sapphire; Sri Lanka origin.
