Hi PS, I need help making a decision again. I'm thinking of setting these red spinels around this unheated purple sapphire. Planning on mailing out the gems Thursday. Please give your input and help me?

Rose gold prongs around the sapphire. White metal everywhere else.

That purple sapphire is so pretty! Where did you get it?

I'm voting for white gold.

These colours will pop in all white gold or platinum

Can you do the stones on a penny and stones on a quarter test, to see which metal they look best with? They are very pretty stones and I would like to know more about the gorgeous purple sapphire too :)) .

Instead of showing you dirty coins, here are the stones against actual 14k RG and WG rings. Does this change anyone's opinion?

About the sapphire, it used to be part of a pair. Yvonne sold one of the pair to another customer, and I sent a message asking about the other stone of the pair. It's 7x5 and my favorite tone of lavender sapphire; Sri Lanka origin.

The dirty coins bit made me crack up  .
I think they look amazing with white gold. I tend to favor white gold though. Very beautiful stones, and lucky you to get the other piece of the pair of lavender sapphires!

I am in the minority here, but I think yellow gold would bring out the richness in the spinels and deepen the sapphire as well.purple sapphire.red spinel.jpg

Thanks for your input, Sibsgirl, but though I like the spinels in yellow gold, I am certainly not looking to deepen the sapphire. I adore lavender with red, and I already have a ring where the lavender darkened to a darker purple. I'm hoping this sapphire will stay lighter toned with the setting that I want.

I see! You'll definitely want to avoid the yellow then. That being the case, rose gold for sure. Rose always seems to bring out the white in lighter stones to me. It will be gorgeous no matter what!

So glad I did this photo. IMO the rose gold compliments both the sapphire and spinels. That being said, you can't go wrong with either metal choice=)2

How about both? I don't know your design, but imo the spinels will pop in RG, and the tone of the sapphire calls for WG. I LOVE your choice in color combo, btw!

If @voce wanted to go with one metal, yellow would be ideal. However, I think the center stone would benefit more from rose gold, but not the sides.

I thought it looked like it would be from Yvonne. I had the chance to meet her today. I vote rose gold, it looks really nice. I think the side stones look nice in rose gold too. Makes them really pop.

White! To me the rose adds a third, coppery color that detracts from the stones’ color combo, which I love.

I vote rose, but it’s my favorite soooo.... maybe I’m not the best to give advice.

I vote white. Or white for all but rose gold around the spinels,

In the end, rose gold won out. Here is what the outcome looks like. I accepted Yvonne's suggestion of using pink sapphires for the pave, and the result looks very feminine.

Prreeeeeetty! I love! The rose gold is so soft and warm, and it pairs well with all the colors!

It is so so beautiful!

I was going to vote white, and what a wrong decision that would have been!!!

The pink sapphires bring it all together perfectly.:dance::dance:

White all over because the colour just pops.

The rose worked out beautifully!!!! Can't wait for hand shots!

Gorgeous ring! I love the design.

Here is the ring on my hand. @chrono I must admit, I chose to go with rose gold here in part because I knew I had the following project from Enhoerning Jewelry on the way, and just now completed:

What a pretty flower ring! I would have never thought to put red with purple/lavender before seeing your pieces, but it really works :)
