This is my first time setting up a poll on pricescope, so forgive me if I mess up!

I originally was thinking of getting a 7 stone graduated bezel band with diamonds and sapphires to commemorate graduating with my doctorate in physical therapy (7 years with the school colors of white and blue!). A jeweler mentioned that I could do a half bezel ring instead and now I'm not sure what to do! I'll try and attach some photos of bezel and half bezel bands to give an idea of what I'm thinking. Please let me know what you think: full or half bezel? Other suggestions are welcome as well :)

Thank you!

Here is an example, albeit with all diamonds, of the full bezel graduated 7 stone.

Here is the best example I could find of the half bezel, though I could only find it in a 5 stone and with larger stones.

I like the 1/2 bezel as it appears to have a softer flow - to my eyes.

I like the half bezel aesthetically.

I also like it because it's more of a "statement" ring - as in "I did this!" "Here here I am!" "I accomplished this!"

Congratulations on your accomplishment!

I think I like the all bezel better. The second one looks good but I am not sure how it would look with multi colored stone. I know the bezel would be beautiful.

Will it be a stand-alone or will you stack it?

If stand-alone I like the half-bezel sort better - I agree w/ VR that it's more of a statement ring.

If the latter I'd go with a full-bezel non-graduated semi-eternity (or full, depending on stone and finger size) with alternating white & blue - you could do 7 blues and 7 whites, maybe.

Yssie has a good point - have you decided which hand it is going on and if it would be worn with anything else? I agree with her graduated if RHR and non-graduated if LH/eternity band style.

Instead of alternating, would you consider 3 + 2? 3 diamonds in the centre (1 larger in the centre, 2 slightly smaller) and 2 smaller sapphires on either side, if a RHR? I'm visualizing that look and liking it (in my head!!)

I love the look of the half bezel

Half bezel is great for all diamonds, but I think full bezel is better for alternating sapphires and diamonds.

Full bezel looks best, to me, for alternating colours; plus it's easier to keep clean if you're going to be working with patients.

I voted for the full bezel. I do really like the look of the half bezel but just for an engagement ring. I feel like the full bezel would be more appropriate. Obviously the size of the stones will also make a big difference, so maybe if you had smaller stones and did the half bezel, that could look cute. But if you're going according to the dimensions in the pictures, for such a ring I'd go with the full bezel. Congrats on being done with school! And good luck with your ring! :appl:

I personally like the full bezel. I think it is more timeless and elegant- my style. However if you are the type of person to like something a little differernt then the half bezel maybe more for you.

I voted for full bezel for alternating stones. I think it just looks cleaner.

This is exactly what I had in mind too when OP mentioned alternating sapphires/diamonds! I vote for full bezel as well.

ditto!

+1 Great effect of the 2 colours.

Wow! Thank you to everyone who voted and replied to my thread! I know this will sound silly, but I'm always so honored to have some 'famous' pricescopers respond and really appreciated everyone's feedback!

I was originally planning on the full bezel (I love the picture you found lisamarie!). While I do really like the flow of the half-bezel, I agree with what many of you said that the flow would be interrupted with the alternating stones. I think what was throwing me off was not being able to picture the half bezel in the size that I'm looking for (it would be closer to the full bezel stone's size). I should be able to see the wax in ~2 weeks. I'm definitely leaning towards the full bezel at this point. Thanks for helping to confirm my original desire! I'll let you all know how things turn out (read photos!) once it is finished! You guys rock!

BTW- CONGRATULATIONS on your graduation, DR!!! WOO HOO!!! A ring and a bottle of Champagne are in order!!!!

And, just for fun, I present to you the 'poor girl's photoshop' photos. (aka blue and silver sharpies!)

I have to agree with the others regarding the full bezel - you deserve all the bells and whistles for your accomplishment, not just half... But I really do agree that with the alternating colors the full separation will make it look crisper and more finished, if you know what I mean.

I think full-bezel would look beautiful. Also, you should get it in a size 5 3/4.

I like the full bezel one, with the alternating diamonds and sapphires.

Nice poor girl photoshopping!! :appl:

I prefer the the graduated design in the bottom picture but with the sapphire as the centre stone. That looks more like a bolder sapphire ring w diamond accents rather than the standard alternating look. I like that layout! Good job with the sharpies!

I totally missed sharpie photos. I like the sapphire in the middle too :)
