Hello All,

I need your help finding a 1 carat RB diamond for my brother to present to his fiancee :)

Budget wise we would like to stay close to 4K, and are flexible on color and clarity, but definitely not cut. Is this a realistic budget? In the past, I've purchased from Blue Nile, Whiteflash and James Allen, but am happy to look at any other vendors you may recommend.

Please help me find my brother a gorgeous stone he will be proud of!

Thank you so much!

I think the budget is a bit unrealistic. For a new stone he's looking at more of a .8-.85 ct size. Here are a few to look at:
http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/8013/ this one's a solasfera, slightly different "look" to it than a traditional RB.

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-VS2-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1396353.asp?b=16&a=12&c=77&cid=131

I'm sure there are others...these are just a few. But you can see they are all in the same size range.

If she is open to an antique stone, there are a few on JbEG's website:

There's also a nice looking 1-ct A Jaffe ring w/halo, that is over budget but includes the setting so I believe it should fall within budget as a complete piece. Very nice looking!

thanks to nfowife and thbmok for your quick replies!

i suppose the budget will have to be increased, because from what i know he really wants to give her a 1 carat diamond. the diamond thbmok posted is gorgeous - but i think an N color might be too warm and appear yellow.

would a 5K budget be more reasonable to get what we are looking for here? i believe he would be able to spend that much and save by going with a simple basic setting for now.

thanks!

I think even $5000 is going to be difficult considering the price increases of the past year.

But here are a couple he could call James Allen to talk about:

http://www.jamesallen.com/diamonds/I-SI1-Ideal-Cut-Round-Diamond-1421853.asp (this one is a little deep for me but a good price since it is .99 cts.)

This one is for some reason listed as poor cut on the web page, but the GIA report grades it Excellent. Hopefully it is just an error on the webpage, but it may work to his favor because others my have missed the stone because of that.

He'd have to ask if these are eyeclean, too.
